THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Wilkerson clutch free throws. Indiana trailed 72-68 with less than a minute to go in regulation before Lamar Wilkerson made four free throws to force overtime. He made four more free throws in overtime, including the game winner with 2.8 seconds left. He led the team with 25 points and provided almost all of that production without the benefit of the 3-point arc. He made 7 of 12 shots from two along with his perfect 8 of 8 day from the free throw line.
2. Led by Alexis, Hoosiers connect from two. Wisconsin took away the 3-point arc and forced IU into a different identity. Indiana made 25 of 42 (61%) from 2-point range to overcome a 5 of 22 shooting day from three. IU also shot 13 of 15 at the stripe to help overcome their 3-point shooting woes. Sam Alexis had a massive afternoon for the Hoosiers with 19 points on 9 of 10 shooting. He added 7 rebounds and 5 blocks.
3. Badgers under 40. Indiana held Wisconsin to 38% shooting on the afternoon. The Hoosiers were challenged by Wisconsin’s potent trio of Nick Boyd, John Blackwell and Nolan Winter, who combined for 64 points. The rest of the team had 13 points on 4 of 21 shooting. Boyd and Blackwell needed 36 shots to score their 38 points. Despite getting plenty of stops, IU nearly gave it away with second chances. Wisconsin grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and scored 14 second chance points.
