Indiana defeated No. 8 Iowa on Sunday afternoon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind. by a final score of 67-65.

Armaan Franklin hit a game-winning jump shot with two second remaining to give IU a sweep of the No. 8 Hawkeyes.  The Hoosiers were led by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Race Thompson had 15 points and six rebounds.

Below are the three keys to the game, highlights and final stats.

Indiana (10-8, 5-6) will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Northwestern for a 9 p.m. tip.

Stay tuned to The Daily Hoosier for more coverage of the game.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Finding a way.  Indiana started both halves slowly, and fell behind by 13 in the first half, and 10 in the second.  Each time IU rallied to take the lead at the end of each stanza.  With Iowa in the bonus early in the second half the Hawkeyes got 16 second half free throws attempts, making a rally all the more unlikely.  But Indiana outscored Iowa 32-20 over the final 14 minutes, with Armaan Franklin drilling an elbow jumper to finish off the Hawkeyes.

    2. A stout defensive effort.  Iowa came in with the most efficient offense in the country, but Indiana held them to 1.03 points per possession and 37.3 percent shooting for the game.  In part due to foul trouble, All-American Luka Garza was held eight points under his average with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting.  Iowa’s 65 points were its lowest total of the season.  The previous low was the Hawkeyes’ 69 in the first meeting.

    3.  Indiana’s forwards dominate.  Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson are the heart and soul of Indiana’s team, and they delivered on both ends of the floor.  Jackson-Davis had 13 points and seven rebounds in the second half alone, while Thompson added four blocks for the game and delivered much of the effort in slowing down Garza.  The pair combined for 32 of Indiana’s 67 points, and while they were just 8-of-14 from the foul line, they hit three free throws in the 2:25.
