PARADISE ISLAND, The Bahama — Indiana lost to Gonzaga in second round action at The Battle 4 Atlantis Thursday afternoon by a final score of 89-73.

Gonzaga led at the half 57-39.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Oumar Ballo with 25 points.

The three keys to the game, highlights, and final stats are below.

Indiana plays their final game at The Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday at 11 a.m. ET against either Providence or Davidson.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. No answers for Gonzaga’s offense.  Gonzaga’s offense sliced through IU like a warm knife through butter.  In the first half the Zags scored 57 points, made 52.5% of their shots, and had 13 assists on 21 makes. Improvements were made after the break, but the gap was so wide it didn’t make much of a difference.  After the game IU coach Mike Woodson acknowledged his team is not connected on the defensive end.

    2. IU guards disappear again. For a second straight game in The Bahamas, the Hoosiers didn’t get nearly enough production from their backcourt.  Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle and Trey Galloway combined for 16 points.  The trio made just 6-of-22 shots overall, including just 1-of-9 from three.  Rice fouled out of the game, ending a second straight disappointing performance by the redshirt sophomore.

    3. Dominated on the glass.  Gonzaga enjoyed a 42-27 advantage on the glass.  They grabbed 13 offensive rebounds and scored 23 second chance points.  This came despite the Zags not having a size advantage over IU.  Gonzaga also outscored the Hoosiers in the paint 46-40, with much of the damage coming through movement off the ball, dribble drives, and transition opportunities that led to layups.
