Fall is here and that means we’re in official visit and commitment season.
So it’s time to take another look at where things stand with Indiana and their primary class of 2026 targets.
New IU basketball coach Darian DeVries and his staff have extended more than 20 offers in the class of 2026, and we’ve reported on all of them.
Here’s the latest on where things stand:
COMMITTED: This is the easy part. Maryland-based 6-foot-4 guard Prince Alexander-Moody committed in June and he’s been a vocal supporter since. Based on the average of the national recruiting sites, he’s a 3-star, the No. 130 overall player in 2026, and the No. 31 shooting guard.
NEARING COMMITMENT WATCH: 4-star national top-40 6-foot-9 forward Latrell Allmond visited IU in June. The Hoosiers have long been thought to be at or near the top of his recruitment. He has said he is announcing his commitment on his birthday (Oct. 13). Allmond has taken other visits (Virginia, Oklahoma State, Tennessee) since Indiana, but this is still a recruitment to watch.
5-star 6-foot-8 wing Anthony Thompson visited Bloomington this month. He’s long held Indiana in high regard, and the new staff has only enhanced Indiana’s standing. With Michigan landing Quinn Costello, this might come down to Indiana and home state Ohio State. Thompson will likely announce in October too.
One question, will Allmond and Thompson pick the same school? They are similar in height but have different games and seem like complimentary players. But that’s for them to decide.
PURSUIT OF A BIG MAN: Indiana had 7-foot Ethan Taylor on campus this past weekend. By all accounts that visit went very well. 7-footer Arafan Diane is scheduled to come to IU next month (Oct. 17-19). They are the top two centers in the class based on most rankings. Landing either would be a major coup.
It looks like Indiana needs to beat home state Kansas for Taylor.
Kentucky, Arkansas and Houston are all strong competition for Diane.
Also, don’t forget about international centers Luigi Suigo and Sayon Keita, who both visited IU over the summer. It’s not clear where either is headed, but if IU were to miss on both Taylor and Diane these could become more interesting to watch.
UPHILL BATTLE: Indiana got an official visit this month from 4-star guard Junior County. It sounds like IU will have to pass UConn and Maryland to get him.
MYSTERY MEN: Here’s two 5-star prospects who appear to be on a longer-term timeline. We’ll need to see an Indiana visit get scheduled to believe the Hoosiers are legitimate contenders.
Finnish forward Miikka Muurinen put IU in his final seven. He’s been playing in events overseas and should announce a slate of visits soon.
5-star guard Jordan Smith, Jr. has visited or will visit Duke, Kentucky and Arkansas. With friend and former teammate Moody in his ear, it’s okay to hold on to hope.
NOT GOING ANYWHERE:
These 2026 players IU offered haven’t formally announced anything, but all signs indicate they won’t be coming to Indiana: Tay Kinney, Anthony Brown, Aiden Derkack, Caleb Gaskins, Bryson Howard and Cameron Williams.
