IU Basketball 2020 Signees Leal and Galloway Have Magical Nights

Indiana 2020 signees Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal both had marquee matchups on Saturday.

And both future Hoosiers delivered in dramatic wins for Culver Academies and Bloomington South.

Culver was taken to overtime by No. 5 Cathedral on its home floor before emerging with a 69-58 victory after the extra session.

Galloway delivered 27 points including an electrifying highlight reel play that showed off the 6-foot-4 guard’s versatile talents and athleticism.

You can watch highlights from the game including that play as well as Galloway’s post-game comments here.

Culver is now 12-4 on the season.

Meanwhile in Sellersburg, Ind., a battle of No. 1’s lived up to the hype.

Fellow 2020 signee Anthony Leal delivered buzzer beater heroics to lift Bloomington South to a win over class 3A No. 1 Silver Creek.

The 6-foot-5 Leal drained a 23-footer as time expired to extend class 4A No. 1 South’s perfect season and stun the home crowd at Silver Creek.

“Every day in practice, me, Noah (Jager), Cody (Doig), Conner (Hickman) and Joey (Bomba) all finish practice with one-on-one, king-of-the-court games. And that’s my favorite move, the hesitation pull-up to the left,” Leal told the Bloomington Herald-Times after the game. ““I was just telling them (during the timeout) to get me the ball, and I’d try to do the rest,” Leal said.

Leal finished with 28 points, hitting 5 for 10 from 3-point range.  Indiana recruiting target Trey Kaufman had 27 points for Silver Creek on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and 11-of-12 from the free throw line.

Kaufman guarded Leal for most of the night.  The Panthers are 18-0 on the season.

Culver, Bloomington South and Silver Creek are all legitimate contenders for state titles in March.

NOTE:  On Friday night, the third member of Indiana’s 2020 recruiting class also produced a big game.  Jordan Geronimo had 29 points (10-18 FG, 6-6 FT), 15 rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 steals for St. Paul’s (N.H.).
