Indiana Women’s Basketball Left Out of NCAA; Hosts NIT Game on Thursday

    -Updated with NIT information below-

The Indiana University women’s basketball team received disappointing news on Monday night as it did not receive an at large bid to the NCAA tournament field.  If there is a silver lining it would be that Indiana fans may get additional opportunities to watch beloved seniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill play home games.

Indiana’s record is 17-14 overall and it finished 9-7 in the Big Ten.  The Hoosiers were considered a bubble team for the NCAA tournament.  The Hoosiers got off to an 8-12 start to the 2017-18 season before rallying with an 8 game winning streak down the stretch during conference play to put themselves in contention for the postseason.

Indiana has received an invite to the NIT.  The Hoosiers will host Tennessee Martin at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Thursday.  The tip-off has been set for 7PM.  You can view the complete NIT bracket here.  There is a possible 3rd meeting against Purdue in the third round of the tournament.  Indiana swept the regular season series against the Boilermakers.
