The Indiana University women’s basketball team won their 2nd round NIT contest against Milwaukee by a score of 74-54 and will now face arch-rival Purdue for the third time this season in the Sweet 16 round.

The Hoosiers used an explosive 2nd quarter that included a 17-0 run to run out to a 42-24 halftime lead.  The game was never really in doubt after that.  Indiana improved to 19-14 on the season and they have now won 11 out of their last 13 games.

IU got a balanced attack on the day with five different players in double figures.  Senior and IU all-time scoring leader Tyra Buss led the way with 17 points to go with an amazing 7 steals, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Freshman Jaelynn Penn had an impressive stat line with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

Amanda Cahill did it all with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals.

Kym Royster nearly had a double double with 10 points and 9 rebounds, while Bendu Yeaney added 12 points.

The Hoosiers struggled with turnovers, committing 19 on the day, but they nearly made up for it with 17 steals, which were part of 24 Milwaukee turnovers on the day.

The Purdue game will be played on Thursday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington.  The tip-off is set for 7:00.  Indiana defeated Purdue 72-54 in Bloomington and 52-44 in West Lafayette earlier in the season.
