The Indiana University men’s swimming and diving team is posting results that bring to mind the glory days.

IU capped off a big week at the 2019 NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas on Saturday night with accomplishments that haven’t been seen in nearly half a century.

As a team, the Hoosiers placed third overall at the event with a total score of 385.5 points. California won the team title with a score of 560.  The host Texas Longhorns saw their four year winning streak snapped as they finished in second place with a total of 475.

It was the second straight third-place finish for IU, and with that Indiana has posted back-to-back top-3 finishes at the NCAA Championships for the first time in 44 years.

IU finished in the top-3 of the NCAA’s in 12-straight years from 1964 to 1975.  The Hoosiers won the team title six times during that stretch.

There was no team title in 2019, but several individuals had a successful meet, as both IU swimmers and divers won All-American honors.

Over the course of the NCAA Championships, the Hoosiers had 13 individuals earn a total of 38 All-America honors.

Zach Apple led the way for IU with seven.
