Indiana football is holding steady in the polls.
The Hoosiers (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) remain No. 2 in both the AP and Coaches Polls after their 55-10 win at Maryland. They received 11 first-place votes in the AP Poll, the same number as last week.
This is the third straight week IU is ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll, and its fourth consecutive week in the top five.
The top seven in the AP Poll remained unchanged: No. 1 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Oregon, and No. 7 Ole Miss.
Two other Big Ten teams — aside from IU, OSU, and Oregon — are ranked in the AP Poll: No. 21 Michigan and No. 24 Washington. Iowa remains unranked by the AP, though it sits atop the “others receiving votes” list; but the Hawkeyes entered the Coaches Poll at No. 24. The Huskies are not ranked in that poll.
However, these rankings will soon lose some luster. The College Football Playoff selection committee will release its first top 25 ranking of the season on Tuesday. That poll will paint a clearer picture of where the Hoosiers stand heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Indiana takes on Penn State on Saturday at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa.
