Indiana linebacker Aiden Fisher has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after his standout performance against Oregon.
The senior tied for team leads with 13 total tackles and four solo tackles in IU’s 30-20 victory in Eugene, Ore. Fisher added 1.5 sacks as well, and he recorded Indiana’s top run defense grade for the game on Pro Football Focus.
Fisher becomes Indiana’s first Defensive Player of the Week selection since Jailin Walker earned the recognition from the Purdue game last season. He’s the third player to earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors, joining Offensive Players of the Week Omar Cooper Jr. (Indiana State game) and Fernando Mendoza (Illinois).
On the season, Fisher leads the Hoosiers with 39 total tackles, which is tied for 21st in the Big Ten. He also leads IU with four QB hurries, and his five tackles for loss are tied for fourth on the team.
