The 2018 Major League Baseball season is approximately halfway complete.  With multiple former IU stars spending time in the big leagues this year, we check in on how they are doing.

All statistics are through June 30.

    Alex Dickerson
    Position:  Outfielder

    Team:  San Diego Padres

Dickerson is missing his second consecutive season with an injury.  For his career, he is hitting .257 with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs in 261 MLB at bats.

    Josh Phegley
    Position: Catcher

    Team:  Oakland A’s

    AB – 27
    R – 4
    H – 7
    BA – .259
    HR – 2
    RBI – 7
    SB – 0
    OBP – .276
    SLG – .593

Phegely has been called up to the A’s a couple times.  He is currently on the Oakland roster and has six hits in his last six games.

    Kyle Schwarber
    Positions: Outfielder

    Team:  Chicago Cubs

    AB – 234
    R – 37
    H – 56
    BA – .239
    HR – 16
    RBI – 37
    SB – 3
    OBP – .372
    SLG – .487

Schwarber is having a more productive 2018 across most statistical categories.  The Cubs slugger has stayed healthy for most of the season after struggling with injuries the last few years.

    Aaron Slegers
    Position: Pitcher

    Team:  Minnesota Twins

    W – 0
    L – 1
    ERA – 3.38
    G – 1
    GS – 0
    SV- 0
    IP – 5.1
    SO – 3
    WHIP – 1.313

Slegers made a brief appearance for the Twins in May, seeing action as a reliever.  He has spent most of the season in AAA Rochester where he has a 3.55 ERA.

    Sam Travis
    Positions: First Baseman

    Team:  Boston Red Sox

    AB – 12
    R – 0
    H – 2
    BA – .167
    HR – 0
    RBI – 3
    SB – 0
    OBP – .231
    SLG – .167

Travis was called up and saw action with Boston in four games in early June.  He has played the majority of the season with AAA Pawtucket, where he is hitting .219.

    Keep an Eye on…

    • Micah Johnson:  With AAA Durham, Johnson is hitting .197 with 13 RBIs in 39 games.
