The quest for a repeat national title starts now.
Indiana football kicks off spring practice this week in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers will start practicing on Thursday, and their slate of spring practices will run through April 23.
IU coach Curt Cignetti has said on multiple occasions he has never used the full allotment of practices, and this year’s schedule indicates that will continue to be the case. Programs are allowed to conduct 15 on-field practice sessions over a 34-day period.
Indiana’s spring practices are closed to the public.
April 23 marks the conclusion of spring practices, and it is the date of the spring game at Memorial Stadium. That will be the first opportunity for IU fans to see the 2026 Hoosiers. Thus far the school has not released a start time or television information for the spring game. Cignetti did say earlier this year they’ll likely follow a format similar to last year, with just a half of action.
There’s an interesting overlap on April 23 that IU will likely attempt to integrate into the spring game experience for the fans.
The 2026 NFL Draft begins April 23 around 8 p.m. ET in Pittsburgh. Former Hoosier quarterback Fernando Mendoza is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick.
Indiana will also host the NFL for its annual Pro Day on April 1 in Bloomington. A long list of Hoosiers from the 2025 national championship squad will work out in front of NFL executives and scouts. Due to the late finish to the 2025 season, several IU players did not test at the NFL Draft Combine. So this will be their chance to shine in front the league.
