Myles Price didn’t get an invite to the NFL Combine, so his best chance to catch the attention of the NFL was to deliver a solid Pro Day in March.
Catching balls from Fernando Mendoza, Price checked that box, and he just kept turning in solid performances.
He wasn’t drafted in April, but Price signed with the Minnesota Vikings right after the draft. From rookie mini-camp, to training camp, to the preseason, Price just kept turning heads.
Price flashed in Minnesota’s first exhibition against Houston, scoring the Vikings lone receiving TD on a 3-yard pass. His other catch of the day occurred earlier that same drive, a 15-yard catch on third-and-7.
In the second preseason game Price had two catches for 11 yards against the Patriots. And he also showed what he can bring on special teams. Price got his shot at a kickoff return — and ran it back 81 yards to the 11-yard line.

In the final preseason game, Price caught another pass for 9 yards and gained 28 yards on a punt return at the Titans that was nullified by a penalty.
And on Tuesday came the ultimate payoff — a spot on the Vikings 53-man roster.
In his one Hoosier season after transferring from Texas Tech Price did a little bit of everything for Indiana. He caught 38 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns, ran seven times for 63 yards and a TD, and returned 23 punts for 289 yards with a long of 65 yards.
Listed at 5-foot-9 and 183 pounds, Price isn’t big by NFL standards, but he’s quick, breaks tackles, and has the burst necessary to make plays in space.
“I’m a smaller guy. I punt return, kick return, kickoff, whatever you want me to do. I can kick the ball if that’s what you want. That’s who I am. I can do everything. Whatever the task is, Myles Price can do it,” he said at his Pro Day.
At his Pro Day in March, Price credited IU head coach Curt Cignetti, offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan and all his Hoosier coaches and teammates for helping to prepare him for the next step in his career.
“I could have gone anywhere else and I chose to come here,” Price said in Bloomington at Pro Day. “I thank Coach Cig, Coach Shanahan, all of the coaches for bringing me here and taking me in as one of their own. I enjoyed it. I had brothers at Texas Tech, but I made more brothers here, life-long brothers who will probably be at my wedding someday.”
Price will begin his NFL career on Sept. 8 — Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears.
