Multiple outlets are reporting former Indiana linebacker Micah McFadden will miss a significant portion of the 2025 season with a foot injury. ESPN appeared to have it first.
The New York Giants starter suffered the injury while tackling Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels in the season opener on Sunday.
The timing of the injury couldn’t be worse for the 25-year-old McFadden, who is in a contract year and trending favorably after three years in the league.
The Tampa, Fla. product started 14 games each of the previous two seasons. He amassed over 100 tackles each of the past two seasons, including a career-high 107 in 2024.
The Giants selected McFadden in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft. He became a full-time starter in 2023.
McFadden finished his IU career with 216 tackles, 149 solo, 14 sacks (94 yards), 37 for loss (169 yards), four interceptions, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups. His 37 TFLs share sixth in program history. He decided to forego his final year of college eligibility to enter the draft.
Although a disappointing development, the outlook is slightly better than how things appeared on the field Sunday. McFadden left Sunday’s game against Washington on a cart with his right leg wrapped in an air cast. He later returned to the sideline with his right foot in a boot.
