Assembly Ball, the Indiana alumni team hosting The Basketball Tournament’s (TBT) regional alongside All Good Dawgs (Butler Alumni) at the Hinkle Fieldhouse from July 19-22, today announced the roster addition of former Hoosier Troy Williams.

Williams joins Yogi Ferrell and James Blackmon Jr. as the first three roster commitments for Assembly Ball. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 6-foot-7 Williams is currently playing internationally for Mazatlan in Mexico.  He was with Assembly Ball in 2024 but injured and unavailable to play.  Williams missed a total of 15 months leading into 2025 due to injury.

Williams spent three seasons at Indiana (2013-16), helping lead the Hoosiers to two NCAA Tournaments. Williams made an immediate impact in his freshman year, starting all 32 games. In his final two seasons, Williams averaged 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, earning All-Big Ten honors both years.

Williams passed on his final season of eligibility to enter the 2016 NBA Draft. Williams signed with the Phoenix Suns for the 2016 NBA Summer League, before joining the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2016 season. Williams spent three seasons in the NBA, playing for the Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and Sacramento Kings. Since leaving the NBA, Williams has played professionally in Europe, South America, and Asia, and now in Mexico.

The winner of the Indianapolis Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 28. The semifinals will be held on July 31, and TBT’s $1 million championship will be played on Aug. 3.

For the first time, TBT will give each host team the opportunity to have home court advantage for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the $1 million championship game. Should two regional hosts face off, the tie breaker will be determined by which host sells 4,000 tickets the fastest. Tickets are on sale now at tbthoops.com/tickets.
