Eight IU players were named to well known college football analyst Phil Steele’s annual preseason All-American teams.
This is double the amount IU had ahead of the 2025 national championship campaign.
Indiana was tied with Oregon for the Big Ten team with the most players on Steele’s four teams, while Ohio State had six.
The IU All-Americans include seven returning players from the 2025 team, and one transfer.
Here are the eight Hoosiers receiving preseason All-American recognition from Steele:

Indiana opens the 2026 season on Sept. 5 against North Texas at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
