Watch below spring travel highlights of 2026 IU basketball target Jordan Smith, Jr.  He plays for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL Circuit. With a connection to Smith through assistant coach Kenny Johnson, IU offered Smith a scholarship earlier this month. The 6-foot-2 and 200-pound Smith is a consensus national top-10 player in the 2026 class.  He attends Paul VI in Virginia. Based on reports, Smith won’t decide on a college until next spring. Watch as former IU basketball one-and-done star Jalen Hood-Schifino joined The Sam Acho podcast. Cohosting the podcast was former IU strength coach Clif Marshall. Hood-Schifino was the 2023 Big Ten Freshman of the Year at IU, and just completed his second year in the NBA.  He was dealt midseason by the Lakers as part of the blockbuster Luka Doncic/Anthony Davis trade, and when the dust settled he was with the Sixers. IU Athletics released more clues this week that a new mascot is coming to Bloomington. Former women’s basketball player Sydney Parrish, and head coaches Curt Cignetti and Darian DeVries all got into the act for social media videos teasing the soon to be announced return of the bison. Assembly Ball, the Indiana alumni team hosting The Basketball Tournament’s (TBT) regional alongside All Good Dawgs (Butler Alumni) at the Hinkle Fieldhouse from July 19-22, today announced the roster addition of Indiana alumnus Race Thompson. Thompson returns after playing with the team in 2024 and joins Yogi Ferrell, James Blackmon Jr., and Troy Williams as the first four roster commitments for the 2025 Assembly Ball squad. Indiana men’s basketball alumnus Kel’el Ware was voted to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.  He was the top vote-getter on the second team. Ware, the 15th pick in the 2024 first round pick by the Miami Heat, made 36 starts across 64 appearances in his rookie season. He averaged 9.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocked shots in 22.2 minutes per game. He shot 55.4% from the floor. North Florida transfer wing Jasai Miles joined the East 17th Street podcast to discuss his decision to transfer to Indiana and basketball journey. Miles announced his commitment to Indiana during an official visit to Bloomington on April 16. The 6-foot-6 Miles started all 32 games for North Florida in 2024-25 and averaged 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 42.5 percent shooting from the field including 33.5 percent from three in 31.4 minutes. Tune in below as IU basketball transfer forward Josh Harris joined the East 17th Street podcast. Coming to Indiana via North Florida, Harris announced his transfer to the Hoosiers on April 29. As a freshman in 2024-25 he started and played in 30 games and averaged 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds on 55.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three in 22.5 minutes per game.
