Upon first glance, Indiana women’s basketball received a tough NCAA Tournament draw. The Hoosiers (24-5) earned their No. 4 seed, giving them home-court advantage in the first two rounds. But they’re up against a No. 13 seed in Fairfield (31-1) that hasn’t lost since mid-November and may feel it deserved a higher seed. If IU defeats the Stags, it may face No. 5 seed Oklahoma (22-9) — the Big 12 regular season outright champions, which swept No. 1 seed Texas and played a more challenging non-conference schedule than the Hoosiers. Should Indiana get through to the Sweet 16, it would…

Selection Sunday has arrived. Indiana women’s basketball has waited all week to learn its NCAA Tournament fate, as the Hoosiers hope to host for the third straight year. The selection show is Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. IU has projected as a No. 4 seed in each of the selection committee’s top 16 seed reveals, but the team ended on a sour note after blowing a big lead against Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament. That result stoked fears that Teri Moren’s squad could slip to a No. 5 seed and have to travel for March Madness.…

Indiana men’s basketball ended a disappointing season with an overwhelmingly disappointing performance. IU bowed out of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday with an ugly 93-66 loss at Target Center in Minneapolis. The Cornhuskers ran away with the game in the first half by going 12 for 20 from 3-point range, creating too large a deficit for IU to manage. Multiple reports emerged as the game ended — which a source with knowledge of the situation later confirmed to The Daily Hoosier — that the Hoosiers (19-14) would decline a potential NIT bid to focus fully on recruiting. So this officially…

Indiana men’s basketball didn’t have the smoothest game on Thursday in Minneapolis. IU played a strong defensive game in its Big Ten Tournament opener, regularly forcing Penn State into tough looks and holding the Nittany Lions to a 27.6 field-goal percentage. But the Hoosiers couldn’t fully capitalize on it on offense, and they found themselves in another tight game. So perhaps it’s only fitting the game was decided by someone who hasn’t had the smoothest career in Bloomington. With the game tied at 59 with 24 seconds remaining, IU head coach Mike Woodson called a play to set up a…

Indiana women’s basketball’s regular season is over, but the Hoosiers are hoping their home slate isn’t. IU is seeking a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament, which would bring the first two rounds to Bloomington for the third straight year. The Hoosiers’ loss to Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals left those hopes uncertain, but they’re still alive. During a media availability on Zoom ahead of the Big Ten Tournament, IU head coach Teri Moren expressed gratitude for the love the team’s felt from its fans this season, and is hoping her program will be able to reciprocate it. “We…

Indiana men’s basketball dominated the beginning of Sunday’s game against Michigan State. The Hoosiers ran out to a 20-5 lead within seven minutes in at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Indiana was making the right plays and showing strong effort on both ends, and the Spartans looked lost. But then, Trey Galloway got hurt. He moved with a bit of a limp after he scored a fastbreak layup around five minutes into the game, and he went to the bench a few minutes later. The senior then went back to the locker room and didn’t return for the rest of the…

Indiana men’s basketball had four players participate in senior day festivities on Sunday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. But only two are leaving the program after this season. Senior guards Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal each announced during their senior day speeches on the court that they’re returning to the Hoosiers for the 2024-25 campaign. Both players had their extra year of eligibility afforded to student-athletes who participated in COVID-impacted seasons in 2020 and 2021. Galloway was one of Indiana’s team captains this year, along with Xavier Johnson. He’s been a fixture in IU’s starting lineup for the last two…

Indiana’s fate is out of its hands. The Hoosiers entered the Big Ten Tournament projecting as a No. 4 seed for the NCAA Tournament. They’d slipped at Illinois after the first top-16 seed reveal in mid-February, but immediately recovered with their best win of the season, at home over Iowa. That turnaround helped IU stay on the four-line. As long as Indiana won its first game in Minneapolis, it would be in good shape to secure the top-four seed that brings NCAA Tournament home games with it. But that didn’t happen. The Hoosiers collapsed in the second half against Michigan…

Indiana women’s basketball was hoping to rest Mackenzie Holmes during its Big Ten Tournament opener. Holmes entered Friday’s quarterfinal game against Michigan recovering from a knee injury she suffered on Sunday against Maryland. She participated in IU’s morning shootaround, and was listed as questionable on the team’s availability report. But IU head coach Teri Moren told Big Ten Network at halftime that the fifth-year may not enter the game if the Hoosiers could maintain their comfortable lead. They didn’t. Holmes checked in with 6:28 left in the game. It didn’t matter. Michigan rode a dominant second-half performance to a 69-56 win.…

Indiana men’s basketball has confirmed at least two players are participating in senior day ceremonies on Sunday. But the Hoosiers may have only one of those players available for the actual game against Michigan State. Forward Anthony Walker suffered a right knee injury during the second half of IU’s win at Minnesota on Wednesday, and did not return for the rest of the night. He was back on the bench by the end of the game. IU head coach Mike Woodson didn’t have any update on his status after the game on Wednesday. On a media availability over Zoom on…
