Via release, IU head coach Mike Woodson announced the addition of transfer Langdon Hatton to the Indiana men’s basketball program on Thursday. Hatton, an Indiana native, will join Indiana after spending three seasons at Bellarmine and William & Mary. The 6-10, 240-pound center averaged 6.9 points and 4.6 rebounds to go along with 60 assists and 45 stocks (steals plus blocks) in two seasons at Bellarmine. He shot 50.3% (176-of-350) and 34.0% (16-of-47) from the 3-point line. He added five double-doubles with the Knights. As they build a new football stadium, Northwestern has updated plans to host games for the 2024 season. Northwestern’s football team will play a majority of its games this season at a temporary setup at the Lanny and Sharon Martin athletics facility near Lake Michigan on the University’s Evanston campus. That includes Indiana’s Oct. 5 game at Northwestern. The location includes views of the lake, North Campus and downtown Chicago. Bellarmine transfer big man Langdon Hatton has made it official. The Georgetown, Ind. native and North Harrison H.S. product announced on his social media accounts he has transferred to Indiana for his final season of college basketball. The 6-foot-10 and 240-pound Hatton started all 31 games for Bellarmine in 2023-24.  Taking on the biggest role of his career, he averaged 10.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in 27.8 minutes per contest.  Hatton shot 48 percent from the field overall, including 33.3 percent (15-of-45) from three.  He added 24 blocks on the season. Hatton has been trending towards an IU commitment for a couple weeks, and this visit further points to that possible outcome.  He’s expected to be on campus on an official visit for a couple days. There aren’t many names left on the board for Indiana when it comes to the transfer portal. One of their main prospects was formally crossed off the list Tuesday when Monmouth center Nikita Konstantynovskyi announced he’s headed to Notre Dame. Indiana had multiple discussions with the 6-foot-10 Konstantynovskyi regarded their opportunity to back up Oumar Ballo at center. IU baseball has lost an opportunity to give its NCAA Tournament resume a major boost. Indiana’s final midweek game, a contest scheduled at Louisville on Tuesday night, has been canceled due to incoming storms and lightning in the area. Because it is the last week of the regular season, the game will not be made up. Based on Indiana’s current roster, the Hoosiers will once again have a major reconstruction project ahead of them to prepare for the 2025-26 season.  As of this writing, IU will have at least six scholarships available as Trey Galloway, Anthony Leal, Oumar Ballo and Luke Goode are all expected to be out of eligibility. Indiana Softball earned an NCAA Tournament bid for the second consecutive season on Sunday night as announced on the NCAA Softball Tournament Selection Show. The Hoosiers will be the No. 3 Seed in the Columbia Regional. The regional will take place from May 17-19 at the University of Missouri. Missouri is the No. 7 overall seed in the tournament. Indiana will play against No. 2 seed Washington in their first game of the regional while No. 1 seed Missouri will start with No. 4 seed Omaha. Indiana had plenty of chances the last two days to keep its streak of Big Ten series wins alive.
