There is almost always top shelf high school basketball talent in the Hoosier state.  Archie Miller knew this when he was hired as the Indiana head coach in 2017. Juwan Morgan knows about significant year-over-year improvement. Playing in his third year in the Indiana program and his first season under new head coach Archie Miller, Morgan’s game transformed and his stat line exploded. The Waynesville, Missouri native averaged 8.8 more points, 1.8 more rebounds and .5 more blocks per game for his junior season compared to his sophomore campaign. Indiana football has gone into relatively new territory for its sixth commitment of the 2020 recruiting class. Collins, Mississippi defensive back / receiver / athlete Christopher Keys committed to IU on Thursday. The 6-foot-1, 165 pound Keys announced the news on his Twitter page: https://twitter.com/_iamchrisK/status/1136680436292366338 According to his MaxPreps’ page, Collins had 18 catches for 220 yards and a touchdown as a junior at Collins High School. Indiana will be taking on someone other than Duke in the 2019 Big Ten / ACC Challenge. After facing the Blue Devils in each of the last two years, the Hoosiers will face the Florida State Seminoles in this year’s event. The IU basketball program has now confirmed what CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein first reported regarding this year’s opponent in the annual slate of games involving the two power five conferences. It is Indiana All-Star week, and on Wednesday night the annual in-state clash between the boys Senior and Junior All-Stars was held at New Castle High School. The Senior All-Stars feature incoming IU freshmen Trayce Jackson-Davis and Armaan Franklin, while the Junior All-Stars feature several Hoosier recruiting targets including Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway. Indiana basketball has offered several targets in the 2020 recruiting class that appear to be underrated based on their recent spring AAU performances. With three players selected on the first two days, things were just getting warmed up for the Hoosiers. By the time the dust settled on Wednesday evening, a grand total of 10 Indiana baseball players had been selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft, setting a program record for a single year. The Indianapolis based NCAA is not doing the IU basketball program any favors. After shooting 31.2% (311th nationally) in 2018-19 from long range, and 32.2% (307th nationally) in 2017-18, the Hoosiers will now have to hoist three-pointers from more than a foot further away from the basket. The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved moving the 3-point line from 20 feet, 9 inches to 22 feet, 1¾ inches.  The new distance is consistent with international rules and will be effective for the upcoming season.
