The final stats are a bit misleading due to some garbage time production, but this was ostensibly Indiana’s worst offensive game of the year by just about any measure. IU shot just…
A lot of bad things started the last time Indiana visited Maryland. That Jan. 11 trip to College Park was the first time during the 2018-19 season that a loss became a losing streak. The Hoosiers were coming off of a loss to Michigan, and after losing to the Terrapins in College Park, one loss became two, and eventually turned into seven straight and 12 of 13. It didn’t have to be that way. And things certainly didn’t start out that way at the XFinity Center just under a year ago. IU scored the game’s first nine points, led by…

Nearly halfway into the season, an identity has emerged for Indiana. Right, wrong, or indifferent, now 13 games into the season, and after six straight games against high major competition, the 2019-20 Hoosiers are in many ways who they are. With the resumption of Big Ten play now here, how will IU fare in what appears to be as difficult of a league slate as we’ve seen in a long time? First and foremost, can Indiana avoid a season sinking stretch like last season that saw the Hoosiers drop 12 of 13 in January and February? And how is IU…

With 8:50 remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter at The Gator Bowl, Indiana appeared to be ready to make history. Holding a 22-9 lead and in possession of the football, one more long drive by IU was all that was seemingly needed to put Tennessee away and give the Hoosiers their first bowl win since 1991 and third nine win season in program history. And then the wheels came off. The Hoosiers went three and out, and a floundering Volunteer offense suddenly found itself. Tennessee went 10 plays and 82 yards as they found the end zone for…

The wait is over, and history can be made tonight in Jacksonville. A nine win season? That has only happened twice in Indiana’s program history, and not since 1967. A bowl win? That has not happened since 1991. Both accomplishments have been out of reach for decades. And both are on the table on Thursday night at The Gator Bowl. With its first eight win season and above .500 record in the Big Ten since 1993, the 2019 campaign has already been a special one. But with a win over a historic and proud SEC program like Tennessee, a special…
