A four year starter at left tackle may be looking elsewhere for a potential fifth year of college football. Coy Cronk has entered his name into the transfer portal based on several reports. Indiana recruiting targets Luke Goode and Leland Walker went head to head over the weekend when Homestead (Fort Wayne, Ind.) traveled to North Central (Indianapolis). Walker, a sophomore point guard for North Central, got the best of Goode and Homestead in this one.  The Panthers won the game 74-62 with Walker leading the way with 26 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.  Goode had 19 points and 8 rebounds.  Walker wears jersey number two in white below, while Goode wears No. 20 in blue.  Goode is the No. 88 player in the 2021 class, while Walker is not yet ranked…

Saturday at Maryland, Indiana had things going in reverse. On an individual level for a point guard, a longstanding benchmark for the assist to turnover ratio has been 2-to-1. Teams rarely reach that standard as a group.  Notre Dame leads the country right now at 1.96.  The top 50 teams nationally are all above 1.2. After briefly considering the NFL Draft, Tampa, Fla. native Whop Philyor has announced that he will be back for his last year of eligibility with Indiana. Throughout the entirety of Bob Knight’s coaching career, his teams had only allowed an opponent to go over 100 points one time. And then it happened.  Three times.  In ten days. Under a rule established in 2018, college athletes competing in Division I football can participate in up to four games in a season without using a season of competition. Division I student-athletes have five years to compete in up to four seasons of competition. The new exception allows football players to preserve a season of competition if, for example, injuries or other factors result in them competing in a small number of games.
