The defending Big Ten champion IU baseball team had their season interrupted long before they had a chance to go for a repeat. Head coach Jeff Mercer’s squad had a 9-6 mark on the 2020 campaign when play was interrupted by the pandemic in March. Indiana will be looking to replenish its front court in 2022, and a rising center from an unlikely location has their attention. North Dakota based big man Joe Hurlburt has been hearing from IU this summer according to multiple reports. Hurlburt put up impressive numbers as a sophomore at Enderlin High School where he averaged 21.2 points, 15 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.4 steals per game. Evansville just landed IU’s all-time scoring ace. The University of Evansville women’s basketball program announced on Tuesday that former IU star Tyra Buss will join the team as an assistant coach. Hailing from Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Buss returns to the tri-state after an illustrious playing career at Indiana. The four-year starter became the Hoosiers’ all-time leading scorer with 2,364 career points during her career from 2014 to 2018.  Buss led the Hoosiers to a 2018 WNIT title and was named the Postseason WNIT Most Valuable Player in the process.  She is also IU’s all-time leader in assists and steals. Former IU wide receiver Cody Latimer has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list the NFL announced Monday. Latimer was charged with multiple felonies stemming from an arrest in May. Signed by Washington during the offseason, Latimer’s acclimation with his new team will be hampered by the league’s decision. Players placed on the commissioner’s exempt list are not permitted to practice or play in games. According to the NFL’s statement, players on the list are only permitted “to be present at the club’s facility on a reasonable basis for meetings, individual workouts, therapy and rehabilitation, and other permitted non-football activities.”…

Former Indiana basketball great Ray Tolbert recently joined Harvey Harrington on the DreamChasers Podcast. While leading the Hoosiers to their fourth National Championship in school history, Tolbert set the pace in rebounding (224), field goal percentage (.588) and blocks (35) in his 1981 Big Ten Player of the Year campaign. Tolbert’s 428 points during his senior year placed him 18th on the all-time scoring list at IU with 1,427 points. He played in 127 games as a Hoosier, starting 123.
