One college basketball program will be giving thanks more than others on Thursday. Class of 2022 point guard Bruce Thornton is ready to announce his college decision. Indiana will open its 50th season at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Wednesday as the Hoosiers get set to take on Tennessee Tech. But while the timing of the start of the season is similar to how it was in the early days, the atmosphere inside the building will be unlike anything anyone has ever seen. The first release of the College Football Playoff rankings doesn’t typically catch the eye of IU football fans. But 2020 has been different in so many ways. For the first time in program history, Indiana was ranked in the CFP rankings on Tuesday, coming in at No. 12.
