Penn State has seen enough of Grace Berger. The Indiana junior guard recorded her third triple-double in 16 games as Indiana dominated the second half and cruised to a 90-65 win over Penn State in Bloomington. It was Berger’s second triple-double of the season against Penn State. With 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, Berger tied the Big Ten all-time record for triple-doubles in a season and the most for a Big Ten player in a career. Berger also has the most all-time for an Indiana player. “Congratulations to Grace Berger for her third triple-double that she has posted,”…
It had been a while since the IU basketball staff extended a scholarship offer, but head coach Archie Miller did just that over the weekend when he called DeMatha High School small forward Tyrell Ward. The 6-foot-5 Ward is likely a name familiar to our readers. The Daily Hoosier caught up with his high school head coach Mike Jones recently and discussed Ward extensively. At the time Jones hinted that a scholarship offer from IU was likely. On Sunday, Ward announced an offer from Indiana on his Twitter page. https://twitter.com/daraghson_/status/1358544468794892291?s=20 The Indiana offer capped off a big weekend for Ward,…
When they knocked off Indiana in Bloomington seven weeks ago, Northwestern appeared to be an up-and-coming team in the Big Ten. The Wildcats immediately followed that win over IU with an impressive home triumph against Ohio State — and they haven’t won a game since. Unlike Northwestern, Indiana has won games in 2021, but since a two-game winning streak over Penn State and Maryland that straddled 2020 and 2021, the Hoosiers have been unable to string together consecutive wins. IU is coming off of its second win over Iowa. The last time they took down the highly regarded Hawkeyes, the…

He has made 5-of-14 (35.7 percent) from the field in those contests including 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) from 3-point range while contributing five assists and committing three turnovers. As has been widely speculated and reported, the 2021 men’s Big Ten basketball tournament will be relocated from Chicago to Indianapolis the conference confirmed on Tuesday. The league cites multiple factors for the decision, primarily health and safety, and COVID-19 testing protocols. The event will immediately precede the 2021 NCAA Tournament, which is also based entirely in Indianapolis and the surrounding area. “It’s a really smart move,” IU coach Archie Miller said on Tuesday. “I just don’t think the tournament would have been able to survive in Chicago. To be able to move it is probably not only a sign…

The tip time for Wednesday’s game at Northwestern has been moved up to 5:30 p.m. ET the IU basketball program announced on its social media pages. The game was originally scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET. It will still be televised on the Big Ten Network. The tip time was changed to accommodate television. There are three Big Ten games on Wednesday on BTN as Nebraska begins the process of making up games that were postponed due to COVID-19. Indiana lost to Northwestern in the first meeting 74-67 in Bloomington on Dec. 23. The program also confirmed the tip times for…
After a difficult overtime loss to Illinois on Tuesday, Indiana head coach Archie Miller said his team lacked the toughness to make big plays down the stretch and close. On Sunday, his team proved him wrong. Indiana didn’t play well for long stretches of the game, but the Hoosiers closed out each half masterfully. Those finishing stretches were just enough to secure a season sweep of No. 8 Iowa in Bloomington on Sunday afternoon and snap a three-game home losing streak in the process. IU also picked up a critical win on its NCAA Tournament resume. Now the Hoosiers will…
