A summer full of dramatic twists and turns continues for Kyle Schwarber. The former IU All-American has been traded by Washington to the Boston Red Sox according to multiple reports. The Red Sox confirmed the reports on Friday. It took a world record performance to keep Lilly King from pulling off a stunning upset in the 200-meter breaststroke final in Tokyo on Friday morning. King, who didn’t qualify for the 200-meter final in Rio in 2016, stormed out to the lead at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and maintained it until right around the point of the final turn. Indiana’s Michael Ziemba earned a spot on one of college football’s most prestigious preseason lists. The fifth-year player was named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, an award that honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world. IU men’s soccer has lost its second all-time great in the last 13 months. Three-time All-American (1979-81) Armando Betancourt died on Wednesday in in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The IU basketball program has announced the tip-times for their two foreign tour games in the Bahamas next month. The Hoosiers will battle BC Mega, a professional basketball club based in Belgrade, Serbia, in two contests in the Bahamas on Friday, August 13 and Sunday, August 15. The contests will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the Imperial Ballroom at Atlantis Paradise Island. Neither game will be televised. Ever reliable IU kicker Charles Campbell was honored with preseason recognition on Wednesday. After a highly effective 2020 campaign, Campbell was named to the Lou Groza Award watch list for the 2021 season. Campbell connected on 10-of-11 field goals (90.9 percent) and all 25 extra-point attempts during Indiana’s eight-game 2020 season. He made two field goals of 50 yards or more at the Outback Bowl in January. The Tennessee native earned second team All-Big Ten honors in 2020.
