He was one of the top players on the Nike EYBL circuit in July, when he averaged 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.8 steals in five full games before an illness forced him out of…

Indiana head coach Tom Allen put to bed any concerns that his defense might be without All-Big Ten cornerback Jaylin Williams for all or a portion of the 2021 season. Laura Lane of the Bloomington Herald-Times reported in late June that a vehicle driven by Williams when he was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated in February was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Bloomington on June 27. The report raised concerns Williams could have been involved in the hit-and-run incident, but there have been no subsequent reports or public records to further suggest he was behind the wheel…
Free agent guard Victor Oladipo has agreed to a deal to rejoin the Miami Heat for the 2021-22 season, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic. In a follow-up tweet, Charania said that Oladipo’s plan is rebuild his value and return to the open market in 2022, meaning that is a one-year deal for the former IU and Pacers star guard. Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files is reporting via sources that the new arrangement is a veteran minimum deal. The 29-year-old Oladipo was named an All-Star in 2018 and 2019 with the Pacers. He has been slowed in recent years…
Indiana is widely expected to be ranked in the AP and coaches preseason top-25s to open the 2021 season. One strong indicator of where the Hoosiers will land in those polls came this week by way of ESPN. Thirty-three ESPN college football analysts submitted their own top 25s, leading to the outlet’s composite preseason top-25. The ESPN crew expects some familiar schools to end up at the College Football Playoff. The usual suspects — Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State make up the top-five. If the Buckeyes have a vulnerability that IU can pounce on, it will likely be…
He has a reputation for making a splash, and former Indiana shooting guard Devonte Green did just that in NBA summer league action on Tuesday evening. Known as a player who can produce a lot of points in relatively short spurts, Green came out firing in Utah. He scored 10 points in 15.2 minutes, making 3-of-6 shots including 2-of-4 from behind-the-arc. Green also made 2-of-3 free throws and added three rebounds. His Jazz White team was +19 when Green was on the floor in a game they won 87-58 over San Antonio. Green is getting his chance to make an…
No sooner than we got the roster page updated for the 2021-22 season here at The Daily Hoosier yesterday, the IU basketball program has made an update. Added by the school on Tuesday was freshman walk-on guard Shaan Burke. A 2021 graduate of Vista High School near San Diego, Burke lettered two seasons. He was also twice was named Student of the Year at his school. Burke will study Finance at the Kelley School…
Class of 2022 guard Jalen Hood-Schifino is one of Indiana’s top recruiting targets, and his performance in July did nothing to change that. Below are more than two minutes of Hood-Schifino in action at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam qualifying action in July. The video highlights very well what kind of player Hood-Schifino is — a highly skilled combo guard who can score at all three levels. The 6-foot-5 Hood-Schifino was one of the top players in North Augusta in July playing for Team Thad. He averaged 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.8 steals in five full games…
ESPN is reporting free agent center and former IU basketball star Cody Zeller has signed a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. The 29-year old Zeller has spent the last eight seasons — his entire NBA career — in Charlotte, and he will now relocate across the country in search of more team success. Zeller said recently playing for a winning team was a high priority during a recent episode of “The Woj Pod” with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. “In my mind, a team that’s top four in their conference, they’re playing for home-court advantage, they aren’t playing to make…
