Indiana guard Armaan Franklin is in uniform warming up for tonight’s game against Purdue. The sophomore from Indianapolis has missed the last two games with a rolled ankle that he suffered over a week ago against Maryland. Franklin is averaging 18.8 points over his last five full games.  Overall he is IU’s second leading scorer at 12.7 points per contest.  Franklin is the Hoosiers’ best 3-point shooter, making 47.6 percent from long range. After one quarter it looked like a battle worthy of a hotly contested rivalry. By halftime Indiana was well on its way to another win in what has become a lopsided series against Purdue. With its defense leading the way, the Hoosiers turned a 12-12 first quarter tie into a 32-15 halftime advantage.  The Boilermakers would never get any closer after the break as Indiana cruised to a 66-45 win in West Lafayette. Indiana is looking to an end a seven-game losing streak against rival Purdue on Thursday night in Bloomington. When the Hoosiers last defeated the Boilermakers, Tom Crean was the Indiana head coach, and Yogi Ferrell, Troy Williams and the eventual 2016 Big Ten champion Hoosiers were still donning the candy stripes. One of the top in-state guards in the class of 2022 is set to come off the board in a few weeks. Indianapolis, Ind. based shooting guard C.J. Former Hoosiers will unite in Houston, while a homecoming of sorts in Indiana has reportedly come to an end. Former IU star Victor Oladipo has been traded to the Houston Rockets according to multiple reports.  Shama Charania of the Athletic appears to have been the first to report the news. The deal is part of a megadeal that sends James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets and former Michigan star Caris Levert and a second-round draft pick to the Pacers. Indiana absorbed a second blow on its defensive line in as many days. Although the 2020-21 college basketball season is only seven weeks old, we are already roughly halfway through the pandemic shortened 27-game slate.
