Intriguing names seem to pop into the transfer portal on a near daily basis. One of the latest is Oklahoma’s second leading scorer De’Vion Harmon, a combo guard who hails from Texas. Adam Zagoria was the first to report Indiana’s interest in Harmon, and others including 247Sports followed. Harmon averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds. 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game for the Sooners in 2020-21. He also averaged over 9 rebounds a game and added 1 steal and 1.3 blocks on average. Indiana assistant coach Kenya Hunter met with the media on Thursday morning. Now entering his second season at IU, Hunter discussed his decision to stay with the program after Mike Woodson was hired and much more. Michigan State had IU right where it wanted them, down a point with the ball in the hands of their All-American point guard for their final possession. Indiana freshman Rob Phinisee fought through a high ball screen and then found himself isolated one-on-one with Cassius Winston as the Spartans’ star drove right from the top of the key. Indiana picked up its highest rated pledge in program history on Tuesday afternoon. And he is a familiar face. Bloomington, Ind. based safety Daeh McCullough committed to Tom Allen and IU. He is the son of new running backs coach Deland McCullough. Daeh announced his decision on his Twitter page. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound McCullough is the nation’s No. 6 safety and No. 78 prospect overall in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports. The IU basketball family lost a legend on Tuesday. Bobby “Slick” Leonard has passed away at the age of 88 according to the IU basketball Twitter account and several other reports. Leonard was Indiana’s Most Valuable Player in 1952 and he earned All-Big Ten and All-American honors in 1953 and 1954. The Terre Haute, Ind. native played on two Big Ten championship teams and an NCAA championship team in 1953. New Indiana assistant coach Dane Fife met with the media on Tuesday morning to discuss rejoining the program after playing for IU and then briefly working in an administrative role for the Hoosiers. Fife was hired by fellow former IU player Mike Woodson last week. He played for both Bob Knight and Mike Davis during an IU career that spanned from 1998 to 2002, and he then spent two years in Bloomington on Davis’ staff.
