With the 2022 class rounding into its final form, the Indiana staff is largely pivoting to 2023 and beyond. Visits by several members of the junior and sophomore classes have emerged in recent days.  Here is a quick recap. After long days of recruiting the Tampa area, then South Florida defensive coordinator Tom Allen found comfort where a lot of football coaches do — up in the press box. August 31 was the day NFL teams mandatorily had to be down to a 53-man roster. Below is a summary of the current status of the former IU players who were competing for roster spots across the league. Rodger Saffold will continue as the longest tenured Hoosier in the NFL as he returns for year 12 overall and his third with Tennessee. IU football head coach Tom Allen’s father, Tom Allen, Sr., was responsible for the first weight training effort on the campus of Franklin College. It wasn’t much — just a bale of hay and some concrete blocks. There have of course been upgrades since.  But now 63 years since those humble origins, the Allen family will play a significant role in weight training at the school once again.
