The idea that the entire 2021 NCAA Tournament will be played in the state of Indiana without IU seems more than a little cruel. But it got worse on Sunday night. Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall is hosting six early round NCAA Tournament games including two first four games and four first round games, and there were a few interesting storylines when the teams playing in Bloomington were announced. Former IU head coach Kelvin Sampson will be coaching in the building he once called home on Friday night.  Sampson was of course forced to resign in 2008 after committing NCAA recruiting…

Michigan center Zach Carpenter was watching from the opposing sideline as Indiana safety Devon Matthews intercepted Wolverines’ quarterback Joe Milton with just over five minutes remaining and IU up 38-21.  It was a 3rd and 25 desperation heave by Milton, and when Matthews stepped in front of the pass and snared it at the Indiana 10 yard line, it was game over. The now famous ensuing celebration involving Matthews and Tom Allen on the Indiana sideline left the IU junior safety tackled to the ground and the fourth year coach with an abrasion on his cheek. Both player and coach…

Just blocks away in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday evening, dueling IU basketball disappointments were playing out in concert. The IU women’s basketball team saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse on Thursday night in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal round. Head coach Teri Moren’s No. 2 seeded Hoosiers appeared primed to continue their winning ways as they took a 34-26 lead into halftime against Michigan State.  They might have come out of the halftime locker rooms a bit too confident in that outcome. The Spartans jumped on the Hoosiers out of the break, quickly…

Miller claimed he didn’t hear their call for his job, but he was asked for his reaction after the game.  Specifically, Miller was asked whether he is concerned about his job security after ending his fourth season in Bloomington with a 12-15 record. “I’m not entering any offseason…
