Indiana only formally entered class of 2022 forward Malik Reneau’s recruitment in the last couple weeks when they offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-9 Miami, Fla. based power forward. One way or another, it will be a relatively short recruitment. Reneau announced on Sunday afternoon he is down to a final seven of Indiana, Florida, Memphis, Florida State, Miami, Fla., Arkansas and Seton Hall. While Reneau referred to this group in a social media post as his “top seven” he appears to be well down the path towards a decision. The top-55 4-star forward intends to announce a commitment in…

When running back Gi’Bran Payne verbally committed on Monday he became the fourth 4-star recruit in Indiana’s class of 2022. That is significant, because according to the 247Sports Composite, IU has only landed 13 additional 4-stars in the last 22 years. 11 of Indiana’s 17 total 4-stars since 2000 have or will come to Bloomington in the classes of 2019 through 2023, signaling a major shift in the caliber of prospects signing up to play for the Hoosiers. It is easy to see what has changed. Indiana has started winning at a level not seen in more than 30 years.…

Apple started fast, flipping in 21.94 at the 50, and Great Britain’s Duncan Scott ultimately never got close, with Apple posting a 46.95 split. The final time for the Americans was 3:26.78, well ahead of the world record…

As is the case every year, college basketball recruiting is a fluid process with prospects coming and going on and off the board routinely. On Thursday, Kyle Filipowski, a recruiting target Indiana seemed to be in a fairly good position with at one point in the late spring, committed to Duke after his recruitment blew up during the live evaluation periods. Also over the last six weeks other intriguing class of 2022 targets such as Tyrell Ward (Xavier), Jalen Washington (North Carolina), Seth Trimble (North Carolina) and Justin Taylor (Syracuse) all came off the board. Of course IU earned a…
A summer full of dramatic twists and turns continues for Kyle Schwarber. The former IU All-American has been traded by Washington to the Boston Red Sox according to multiple reports. The Red Sox confirmed the reports on Friday. The deal follows a record setting month of June by Schwarber, that was immediately followed by a serious hamstring strain and a career-first All-Star game selection. Schwarber crushed 16 home runs during the month of June, leading the Majors and earning June National League player of the month honors. Twelve of those homers came in a 10-game span from June 19-29, tying…
It took a world record performance to keep Lilly King from pulling off a stunning upset in the 200-meter breaststroke final in Tokyo on Friday morning. King, who didn’t qualify for the 200-meter final in Rio in 2016, stormed out to the lead at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and maintained it until right around the point of the final turn. But event favorite Tatjana Schoenmaker of South Africa tracked down King and won the final with a world record time of 2:18.95. It was the first world record swim in an individual event at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The 200-meter…
