Free agent guard Victor Oladipo has agreed to a deal to rejoin the Miami Heat for the 2021-22 season, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic. In a follow-up tweet, Charania said that Oladipo’s plan is rebuild his value and return to the open market in 2022, meaning that is a one-year deal for the former IU and Pacers star guard. Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files is reporting via sources that the new arrangement is a veteran minimum deal. Indiana is widely expected to be ranked in the AP and coaches preseason top-25s to open the 2021 season.  One strong indicator of where the Hoosiers will land in those polls came this week by way of ESPN. Thirty-three ESPN college football analysts submitted their own top 25s, leading to the outlet’s composite preseason top-25. The ESPN crew expects some familiar schools to end up at the College Football Playoff. The usual suspects — Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State make up the top-five. He has a reputation for making a splash, and former Indiana shooting guard Devonte Green did just that in NBA summer league action on Tuesday evening. Known as a player who can produce a lot of points in relatively short spurts, Green came out firing in Utah.  He scored 10 points in 15.2 minutes, making 3-of-6 shots including 2-of-4 from behind-the-arc.  Green also made 2-of-3 free throws and added three rebounds.  His Jazz White team was +19 when Green was on the floor in a game they won 87-58 over San Antonio. No sooner than we got the roster page updated for the 2021-22 season here at The Daily Hoosier yesterday, the IU basketball program has made an update. Added by the school on Tuesday was freshman walk-on guard Shaan Burke. A 2021 graduate of Vista High School near San Diego, Burke lettered two seasons.  He averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 assists and led the team in three-pointers as a senior.  For AAU Burke ran with the Gamepoint Adidas Gold program. Class of 2022 guard Jalen Hood-Schifino is one of Indiana’s top recruiting targets, and his performance in July did nothing to change that. Below are more than two minutes of Hood-Schifino in action at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam qualifying action in July.  The video highlights very well what kind of player Hood-Schifino is — a highly skilled combo guard who can score at all three levels. ESPN is reporting free agent center and former IU basketball star Cody Zeller has signed a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. The 29-year old Zeller has spent the last eight seasons — his entire NBA career — in Charlotte, and he will now relocate across the country in search of more team success. Below is the updated IU basketball roster for the 2021-22 season reflecting additions and departures since the end of the 2020-21 season and the new coaching staff. Veteran guard Rob Phinisee changed his jersey number from 10 to 1.  The jersey numbers for the new players and their preliminary measurements are all shown below.  Look for some information such as players weights to be updated in the late summer or early fall. New Indiana basketball wing Miller Kopp published his second Vlog on Sunday evening.  You can watch both the first and second episodes below and take a behind the scenes look at both Kopp and the program. Kopp transferred to IU from Northwestern where he averaged 26.4 minutes, 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range on 339 attempts. Kopp started 74 times in 87 games for the Wildcats. The 6-foot-7 Kopp will have two years of eligibility with Indiana.
