New IU football defensive coordinator Charlton Warren completed his first spring practice season with the program a few weeks ago. The 44 year old Georgia native was hired by Tom Allen in January after spending two seasons as a defensive backs coach with the University of Georgia. New Indiana coach Mike Woodson continues to round out his staff.  On Monday the program announced the addition of team and recruitment analyst Mike Stump, who hails from central Indiana and attended Cathedral High School.  Stump was most recently with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants organization. Stump worked as an assistant under Cathedral and Indy Heat head coach Jason Delaney and coached former Hoosier Armaan Franklin in 2018-19. Former IU basketball player Joe Hillman joined the 19Nine podcast for a lengthy interview. Bob Knight’s first recruit from west of the Mississippi River goes in depth on his background, the 1987 national championship season, the 1989 Big Ten title season, and much more. Former Indiana safety Jamar Johnson met with the Denver media on Saturday afternoon after he was selected in the fifth round by the Broncos in the NFL Draft. Johnson was the only former IU player selected in the draft, and he extended a streak of at least one IU player being selected that goes back eight years.  Harry Crider, Whop Philyor, Stevie Scott and Jerome Johnson all signed undrafted free agent contracts with NFL teams after the draft. Indiana has secured its first official visit since the NCAA decided to reopen in-person recruiting effective June 1. The Hoosiers offered a scholarship to 6-foot-6 small class of 2022 small forward/wing Justin Taylor back in August, and after his first video conference with head coach Mike Woodson, he is ready to make the journey to Bloomington in June for one of his five official visits he tells The Daily Hoosier. Indiana doesn’t have any available scholarships at this moment, but that hasn’t stopped the staff from reaching out to potential additions to the 2021-22 roster. The latest name connected to IU is a very intriguing big man from an atypical pathway to high major college basketball. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported that Indiana is in contact with Shawnee State forward EJ Onu.
