Indiana’s offense was a no show on Saturday night at Penn State, and now the Hoosiers head into their bye week with far more questions than the answers they should have five games into a season. Indiana punter James Evans had never played American football prior to the 2021 season.  After Saturday night, he is much better acclimated to the game. Unable to get anything going offensively, IU lost 24-0 to Penn State at Beaver Stadium on Saturday night in University Park, Pa. in front of an announced crowd of 105,951.  The Hoosiers were shut out for the first time since a 58-0 Oct. 14, 2000 loss at Michigan. UPDATE:  Tom Allen provides the latest on Penix’s status on Monday Indiana quarterback Michael Penix, Jr.’s long history with injuries continued on Saturday evening at University Park, Pa. Penix was tackled as he scrambled to his left and he fell hard on his left shoulder.  He was attended to on the field and went directly to the locker room and did not return in IU’s 24-0 loss to Penn State. The roles have reversed in 2021, a year after the Michael Penix reach for the pylon. Fueled by a 2020 win over Penn State, Indiana went on to one of its best seasons ever while PSU’s slow start wrecked its season. Now it is the Hoosiers who have started slow, and Penn State has legitimate CFP aspirations. As we wait for the 2021 rematch, take a look back at an IU win for the ages. Indiana opened the 2020 season with its first win over a top 10 team in 33 years.  In a fourth quarter and overtime that had enough drama for an entire season, IU stunned No. 8 Penn State 36-35. In with the old, and in with the new. It was 40 years ago that the iconic IU men’s basketball floating head schedule poster made its debut, printed in advance of the 1981-82 season.
