You didn’t even have to be watching Jordan Geronimo to see him in The Bahamas. He was that flash in your peripheral vision. A rebound here, a steal there, Geronimo seemed to be moving at a different speed than everyone else on the court. Meet Flash Jordan, the turbo-charged sophomore forward prepared to do whatever it takes for Indiana this year. “I’m just the kind of guy who is going to put his body on the line for the play,” Geronimo said at the IU basketball media day. Geronimo embraces the idea of being the guy who does all the…

The first five isn’t always the end of game five, but for now Mike Woodson will go with the same five when his IU basketball coaching career debuts on Tuesday night. “Practice has been so competitive. But I’m going to stay with the same lineup we’ve taken into the Bahamas games,” Woodson said on Monday. That means point guard Xavier Johnson, shooting guard Parker Stewart, small forward Miller Kopp, power forward Race Thompson and center Trayce Jackson-Davis will walk to the center of the Branch McCracken Court at 6 p.m. Eastern tomorrow night when the Hoosiers face Eastern Michigan. That…
The first thing that stood out about Tamar Bates when he walked into the room for IU basketball’s media day in late September was his physique. Once referred to as “light in the butt” by head coach Mike Woodson, Bates is now a solidly put together true freshman who has the basketball skills to go with the physical attributes. He is also not light on confidence, and collectively all of that should propel Bates to a big role from the jump. “He’s a cocky kid that is not scared and I kind of like that in him,” Woodson said before…

“I feel very confident in stating that the goal is to win the Big Ten East and play here (Lucas Oil Stadium) on December 4th,” Tom Allen said in July at the Big Ten’s media day. At the time it was an understandable sentiment from Allen, even if it seemed more like a stretch goal. His team was coming off a 6-1 run through the Big Ten and a 14-7 overall record over the prior two seasons, so it was fair to dream a little. What didn’t seem possible at the time was this: With three games still remaining on…
