Former one-and-done IU star Romeo Langford is headed to Texas according to reports. The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach is reporting Langford has been dealt to the San Antonio Spurs in connection with a trade involving Josh Richardson, Derrick White and a draft choice. The 14th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Langford is averaging career highs in points (4.7) and rebounds (2.4) this season with Boston while playing 16.5 minutes per contest. He dealt with numerous injuries during his first two seasons in the league and played in just 32 games in 2019-20, and 18 in 2020-21. Overall Langford…

Indiana University men’s basketball coach Mike Woodson has announced via release that the five players disciplined on Tuesday against Northwestern will be available to play on Saturday at Michigan State. Tamar Bates, Michael Durr, Xavier Johnson, Khristian Lander and Parker Stewart did not play against the Wildcats in Evanston, a game the Hoosiers lost 59-51. In the release, Woodson hinted that missed curfews were to blame, or at least played a role, in the one-game suspensions. “It’s important that all team rules are followed and a curfew applies to everyone in our program for a reason,” said Woodson. Woodson didn’t…
It sounds like “when” rather than “if” as it relates to center Mackenzie Holmes’ return to the IU women’s basketball team this season. The team’s leading scorer and rebounder had a knee procedure in January and hasn’t appeared in a game since Jan. 5. After her team’s win at Illinois on Wednesday evening, head coach Teri Moren provided an update on Holmes’ rehabilitation and timeline. “I think she is getting closer,” Moren told reporters last night after the game. “She is on the floor not from a team perspective but she is doing some individual stuff right now with coach…

Indiana jumped on Illinois from the opening tip and surged to a 28-8 first quarter lead. Things never improved for the Fighting Illini. Led by Ali Patberg’s 26 points on four 3-pointers, No. 7 IU (17-3, 9-1) cruised to a 93-61 rout in Champaign. “Our kids came out and I thought they looked really comfortable, got into some easy flow early, early easy flow for us offensively,” head coach Teri Moren said. “Saw a lot of those shots go down for us whether they were attacks at the rim, whether they were kickout 3’s. I don’t want to pick one…
The actions Mike Woodson took on Tuesday when he suspended five players had to feel very familiar to the first-year IU basketball head coach. Nearly 44 years ago, it was Woodson himself who was right in the middle of a mass suspension of Indiana players. On December 12, 1978, three IU players were dismissed from the team and five others, including Woodson, Landon Turner, and leading scorer Ray Tolbert were put on indefinite probation. Reports at the time indicated widespread marijuana use was central to the turmoil inside the program just two-and-a-half years removed from an undefeated NCAA championship season.…
We’ve entered the drama stage of the IU basketball season. There was a game on Tuesday night in Evanston, but the suspension of five Indiana players stole the headlines and dramatically altered the game plan for the Hoosiers. Down to seven scholarship players, IU started strong and jumped out to multiple six-point first half leads. The Hoosiers extended their advantage to seven early in the second half, but a 13-0 Wildcats run that ended with a Robbie Beran three at the 14:27 mark flipped the script, and the fatigued five, who all played at least 34 minutes, could never fully…
