Legendary former IU basketball coach Bob Knight made an appearance at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday evening in connection with a fan festival sponsored by the Mark Cuban Foundation. Proceeds from the event went to the IU basketball players under the new name, image and likeness rules as well as the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club. The appearance is just the latest of several by Knight at various IU events over the last couple years. Most recently he stopped by for a team practice. https://twitter.com/i/status/1457123858608164869 https://twitter.com/i/status/1457123441392427010 https://twitter.com/i/status/1457123210097463297 The Daily Hoosier –“Where Indiana fans assemble when they’re not at Assembly” Find…

If you ask folks in or around the IU basketball program who the hardest worker on the team is, the answer is fairly consistent. Since departed guard Al Durham perhaps said it best in January. “Anthony (Leal) works his behind off,” Durham said. “He’s one of the hardest workers on the team. When I tell you he works his behind off. I really mean it. When you look up a hard worker, it’s him.” Of course representing the IU program means something altogether different to Leal than anyone else on the team. The Bloomington native has been a fan of…

Watch as Indiana quarterback Donaven McCulley discusses his development over the last few weeks as he has gone from an expectation of redshirting to the starting job. It has been trial by fire for the true freshman McCulley, whose early action has come against a pair of top-10 teams (Michigan State, Ohio State), and his first start came on the road at Maryland. If he starts as expected on Saturday it will be his biggest challenge yet — in front of more than 100,000 at Michigan Stadium. Indiana (2-6, 0-5) and No. 9/10 Michigan (7-1, 4-1) kick at 7:35 p.m.…
Through the first six games, Indiana’s defense was its saving grace, and the only reason some of its games were even close. But after yielding 1,037 yards and 92 points over the last two contests, it now suddenly appears nothing can save the sinking ship that is IU’s 2021 season. The pass defense has been the main culprit, allowing 771 of those 1,037 yards, and while Indiana appeared to be surviving a wave of injuries in its secondary earlier in the season, the wheels have now seemingly come off. Both starting safeties, Devon Matthews and Raheem Layne, have missed time…
This isn’t the way it is supposed to go. In fact, at least in some ways Rob Phinisee’s career trajectory has gone the opposite of what you’d expect. He was a hero just over a month into his freshman season when he drained a 30-footer at the buzzer to sink Butler in Indianapolis in 2018. More than anything else, that moment sent the expectations of Phinisee sky high. Ever since he has been fighting to get back to and stay on that mountain top, only to now find himself likely running as the backup point guard for the first time…
Indiana football head coach Tom Allen met with the media on Thursday to take final questions before his team travels to Michigan. He also shares thoughts on Michigan and the progression of true freshman quarterback Donaven McCulley. The Hoosiers (2-6, 0-5) and No. 9/10 Wolverines (7-1, 4-1) will kick at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. IU basketball made the top five for 2023 big man Austin Parks he announced on Wednesday. The 6-foot-9 Ohio product named Michigan State, Dayton, West Virginia and Ohio State as his favorites along with IU. The St. Mary’s, Ohio center named those schools on the Twitter page of his AAU program. https://twitter.com/OhioBuckets/status/1456047227940573190?s=20 Parks is a bit of a throwback when it comes to his physical nature and skills on the block. And he has other attributes that would make him a good fit at the five in Mike Woodson’s system. “The thing with Austin compared to any other player that…
After so much has changed, it is easy to forget that by the fourth game of his true freshman season, Indiana guard Trey Galloway was starting. In fact, 14 games into the 2020-21 campaign, Galloway had started seven times. Within that span the Culver, Ind. product had made 4-of-6 3-pointers over a five game stretch, and it was becoming clear that Galloway was an underrated recruit who was in the early days of what projected to be a productive college career. And then he hit the freshman wall. The threes stopped falling, his back went out, and Galloway could never…
