Indiana has regularly been mentioned as one of the schools that has suffered the most losses via the transfer portal since the end of the 2021 season. According to Mike Farrell, IU has lost 25 players, second only to Maryland nationally. We actually count 27 since the end of the season and 29 since the start of 2021 fall camp. Irrespective of the correct number, it is clear Indiana has had heavy losses based on sheer volume in recent months, some of which were necessary to get back to the 85 scholarships permitted by NCAA rules.  Programs were temporarily allowed…

The days of Indiana facing Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State every year may be numbered. Earlier this week, the NCAA Football Oversight Committee recommended conferences no longer be required to have divisions to hold a conference championship game. The Division I Council is set to vote on it as soon as next week, and several reports indicate it is expected to pass. The provision would allow conferences to select their top two teams from the regular season and have them face each other in the league championship game. The East Division of the Big Ten has routinely been superior…

Fourth-year head coach Jeff Mercer’s roster was loaded alright — with new faces.  For a program that had built a reputation as the Big Ten’s…
