It wasn’t that Trayce Jackson-Davis was being lazy. That’s not how he sees it anyway. Playing in former head coach Archie Miller’s defensive system, if Jackson-Davis was on the help side and someone attacked the rim, he wasn’t supposed to cross the lane and try to block the shot. “In the other defense (Miller’s) I was more of an anchor and I needed to block out my guys,” Jackson-Davis said. With Indiana up seven early in the second quarter, Donaven McCulley handed off to Davion Ervin-Poindexter on 3rd and 5 from the IU 27.  The play gained a yard, Indiana was forced to punt, and Minnesota scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive. Later in the second quarter, with the game tied at seven, McCulley ran on a read option on 3rd and 10 from the IU 25.  That play went for no yards, Indiana was forced to punt, and Minnesota scored another touchdown on that ensuing drive too. At this point it would be insane to expect different results. For the third week in a row, Indiana’s inept, mistake-prone offense gave the Hoosiers no opportunity to salvage a win in their final home game of the season against Minnesota.  Instead IU fell to Minnesota 35-14 at a sparsely populated Memorial Stadium in Bloomington on Senior Day. As speedy slot receiver D.J. Matthews laid on the turf in Bowling Green clutching his knee, it was difficult to not wonder if Indiana’s season was lying there too, also perhaps unable to recover.
