Purdue head coach Matt Painter passed the Archie Miller era with flying colors.  In fact, he aced it with a perfect 7-0 record against IU over the last four seasons. Indiana has quickly reassembled its defensive coaching staff after the departures of defensive coordinator Charlton Warren and defensive line coach Kevin Peoples. On Wednesday IU formally introduced new defensive line coach Paul Randolph as an assistant under new defensive coordinator Chad Wilt, who was announced last week. Indiana star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis took a hard fall late in the second half on Monday evening in Nebraska and didn’t return to the contest. Immediately after the game Jackson-Davis said in a social media post he would play against Purdue on Thursday.  He does indeed appear to be headed in that direction. Indiana head coach Tom Allen made it clear a month ago — he wants to add a quarterback to the 2022 recruiting class after losing former commit Josh Hoover to Texas Christian. No. 5/6 Indiana is going to have some time off.  Ultimately, that may prove beneficial. Over the last two days the IU women’s program has announced the postponement of its previously scheduled games at home against Michigan State on Jan. 19 and at Iowa on Jan. 23.  In both cases IU cited “COVID-19 protocols within the Indiana program” as the reason for the postponements. The three programs will actively work with the Big Ten Conference to find rescheduled dates to play the games. Indiana defeated Nebraska 78-71 on Monday evening in Lincoln, Neb. for their first true road win of the season.
