June 15 always brings a wave of activity to the phones of rising juniors. The date marks the first time college coaches can directly contact incoming high school junior prospects, and it typically results in the emergence of few new names on the radar of the IU basketball staff. Of course the players Indiana had already offered heard from the staff this week, including Derik Queen, Liam McNeeley, William Jobe, Asa Newell, Raleigh Burgess, Boogie Fland, Yves Missi and others. A couple new offers also came out of the fray — Aiden Sherrell and Jaeden Mustaf both had conversations with…
Golden State hit Boston with a 35-8 run that stretched into the second quarter on the way to building as much as a 22-point lead. They never looked back, clinching the NBA title 103-90 in Boston. Perhaps it was elite video production that played a role in the gameplan, allowing the Warriors to pounce on the Celtics in Game Six in Boston? When Golden State rushed the floor after the final buzzer, former IU star Will Sheehey could be seen in the corner of the screen on the ABC broadcast on Thursday evening. The Warriors hired Sheehey as an assistant…
Coming into the 2021-22 season Race Thompson had only attempted 28 3-pointers over the course of his three seasons on the court with IU. And while the volume wasn’t enough to be meaningful, the results weren’t promising. Thompson made just six of those 28 attempts, and early on in year four, things got worse before they got better. The 6-foot-8 Minnesota product made just 4-of-30 (13.3 percent) from long range over the first 19 games of the season, and it looked like the ‘can Race Thompson shoot’ question had been answered. But then something clicked in late January. Thompson went…
Watch below as Indiana redshirt senior Race Thompson met with the media on Thursday afternoon via Zoom. The Minnesota native was third on the team last season averaging 11.1 points, and second in rebounding (7.5) and field goal percentage (53.6%). He shot 44 percent from long distance in the last 16 games (11-of-25). He arrived at Indiana for the 2017-18 season and took a pre-planned redshirt season. Then Thompson played in just nine games in 2018-19 after suffering a serious concussion. But he has been a main cog in the program since. For his career Thompson has played in 100…

Indiana continues to expand its pool of frontcourt targets in the class of 2024. On Wednesday, Utah-based big man Aiden Sherrell announced an offer from IU on his Twitter page. The 6-foot-10 Sherrell attends Wasatch Academy in Utah after transferring there from Norcross, Ga. He is originally from the Detroit, Mich. area. Sherrell plays with the Utah Syndicate on the Nike EYBL circuit. He is leading 16u with 10 rebounds per game to go with 11.8 points. He is also fourth in blocks at 2.1 per contest. He hasn’t been an efficient scorer to this point, making just 41.8 percent…
On the first day of direct contact with the class of 2024, Indiana offered shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf. A Maryland product, Mustaf announced the offer on his Twitter page. Mustaf attended DeMatha Catholic but has transferred to Carmel Christian in North Carolina for his junior year of high school. He averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a sophomore according to his MaxPreps profile page, while playing alongside top-100 seniors and former IU targets Tyrell Ward and Rodney Rice. Mustaf is ranked No. 40 in the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports Composite. While he…
Okay, we lied. We’re going to take one more look at the way too early college basketball hype stuff, only because bracketology adds an interesting angle to the various 2022-23 college basketball prognostications we’ve seen thus far, following the decision by Trayce Jackson-Davis to return and the passage of the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline. The NCAA Tournament is what it’s all about, after all. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know by now that virtually every national outlet sees Indiana as the favorite in the Big Ten conference next season. But what does that mean from a bracketology…
