As far as Mike Woodson was concerned, the numbers told the story. Indiana ended long losing streaks to Purdue and Michigan in 2022, but if they were to snap a four-game slide against Illinois, Woodson was going to need his big man to step up to the challenge. Indiana men’s soccer coach Todd Yeagley announced the program’s 2022 schedule ahead of its 50th season on Thursday. The slate will feature 10 regular season matches on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The 17-match regular season will see the Hoosiers face eight teams that played in the 2021 NCAA Tournament including two that reached the NCAA College Cup. Indiana secured a commitment from class of 2023 quarterback Broc Lowry on Thursday. Lowry hails from Canfield, Ohio and led Canfield H.S. to an 11-2 record in 2021. As a junior, Lowry completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,921 yards and 17 touchdowns. Indiana made another addition to its 2022 roster on Thursday with the addition of junior college product Louis Moore. The 6-foot-1 and 180-pound Moore played wide receiver and defensive back at Navarro C.C.  He’ll play on the defensive side of the ball for IU. The Mesquite, Texas product had 48 receptions for 713 yards and five touchdowns over two seasons at Navarro.  He added 12 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup on defense. UConn, Indiana, Texas, and Louisville will headline the 2023 Empire Classic, according to a report by Jon Rothstein.  The Daily Hoosier can confirm that Indiana is planning to play in the 2023-24 season nonconference event. According to Rothstein’s report, there is no timetable for an official announcement, and official matchups and dates for the event have not determined.  Under its current format, Indiana should expect to play two games in two days. Formerly known as the 2K Classic, the event is typically held in November, with games played in New York.  The 2022 Empire Classic is Nov. 21-22 in Brooklyn.…

From a sophomore high school 2020-21 season that saw Xavier Booker barely get off the bench, to the No. 4 player in the class of 2023. That has been the meteoric rise of the 6-foot-11 Indianapolis Cathedral product over the last year. After very impressive play this spring, Booker soared 87 spots in the latest class of 2023 rankings update by 247Sports, moving to 5-star status along the way. Things are never going to come easy in the Big Ten for Indiana, but there is now a high likelihood the Hoosiers will face a bit more balanced schedule in the not too distant future.
