What’s old is new again in 2022. On Friday afternoon the IU football Twitter account debuted new road uniforms to be worn throughout the 2022 season. The cream jerseys, crimson pants and crimson helmets with the popular “block I” logo harken back to a successful era of the program. “The Hoosiers will wear these uniforms on the road to mirror those worn by Coach Bill Mallory’s teams from the early 1990s,” the program said in a caption accompany the Twitter post. Now that we’ve gone team-by-team through the league and carefully examined roster turnover, it is time to put everything together with our first edition of 2022-23 Big Ten basketball power rankings.  In this stage of the evaluation we add in factors such as league schedule and overall roster talent. Indiana continues to emphasize length as it dipped back into Texas for another 2024 prospect. The IU staff offered Dink Pate on Tuesday, he announced on his Twitter page. A Dallas, Texas product, Pate attends Pinkston H.S.  He played there as a freshman before transferring to Prolific Prep and then returning to Pinkston for his junior campaign.  Pate averaged 18 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game as a high school freshman before bouncing around as a sophomore between multiple schools. Indiana fifth-year point guard Xavier Johnson has closure on the legal proceedings stemming from his April arrest related to a late-night traffic incident. According to Indiana public court records, Johnson appeared in court in person on Tuesday and plead guilty to the charge of reckless driving at and unreasonable high speed so as to endanger safety, a Class C misdemeanor. Johnson’s felony charge of resisting law enforcement was dismissed. Dustin Dopirak of the Bloomington Herald-Times first reported the news. Johnson received a 60 days suspended sentence, and he is subject to a term of unsupervised probation for 360 days.  Johnson…

Mike Woodson could not have been more clear a year ago. Whenever he was asked about the rollout of his system prior to his first season as the IU basketball head coach, Woodson would quickly remind his team was mainly focused on the defensive end.
