The Indiana men’s basketball program will hold its first ever Pro Day on Friday, Oct. 7.  Representatives from all 30 NBA teams will be invited to the event. The pro-style combine workout will take place early in the afternoon. The team will then make its first public appearance, along with the women’s team, that evening at Hoosier Hysteria. Week three of the college football season is upon us, and Indiana is preparing for its second of three nonconference foes. A year ago, IU edged Western Kentucky 33-31 in Bowling Green, in what turned out to be their final win of the season.  Saturday the teams will meet at Indiana. Indiana picked up its second commit of the day on Monday when class of 2023 wideout Orlando Greenlow announced his verbal pledge to the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-5 and 210-pound Greenlow was in Bloomington over the weekend for an official visit and quickly pulled the trigger for IU.  He confirmed the commitment with The Daily Hoosier. Greenlow is not ranked in the 247Sports Composite.  He is the No. 214 receiver overall in the class according to 247Sports’ own rankings. IU football picked up a commitment from class of 2023 edge rusher AJ Thomas on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Thomas announced his decision on his Twitter page. Thomas is a 3-star according to the 247Sports Composite, the No. 75 edge rusher in the class, and the No. 843 overall player in the senior class.  He chose IU over Tulane and Louisiana Tech. The IU staff stopped by Overtime Elite and offered the top-ranked basketball player in the high school class of 2024 on Monday. 6-foot-7 wing Naas Cunningham announced an offer from IU on his Twitter page. “Blessed to receive an offer from Indiana University,” Cunningham wrote.  “Go Hoosiers!” Cunningham averaged 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1 block per game as a sophomore at Gill St. Bernards (Gladstone, N.J.) before transferring to Overtime Elite (OTE), based in Atlanta. With his team trailing 10-0 to FCS foe Idaho, Shaun Shivers took the handoff on IU’s first offensive play of the second half, saw an opening to his left, and turned on the jets. Then the first defender he encountered, 11 yards past the line of scrimmage, felt Shivers’ rage.  The fifth-year senior back lowered his left shoulder and blasted through Vandals safety Tommy McCormick, who went along for the ride for about four yards before falling helplessly to the turf. September 10, 2000 was a day that will live in infamy in the lore of IU basketball. On this day twenty-two years ago, Robert Montgomery Knight, the most iconic individual ever associated with the program, was fired. Knight was the Indiana basketball coach from 1971 to 2000 with a career record of 661-240 while at IU.  He coached teams that won 11 Big Ten Championships, a Big Ten record, and NCAA championships in 1976, 1981, and 1987.  He was inducted into the IU hall of fame in 2009.
