Indiana’s five game winning streak came to an uninspiring end.  The hot Hoosiers were ground to a halt on Maryland on Tuesday evening. IU had a good first ten minutes and took a 22-15 lead at the Xfinity Center.  But Maryland outscored the Hoosiers 22-7 over the remainder of the first half to take an eight point lead into the break.  The Hoosiers pulled back to within two just a few minutes into the second half, but a 6-0 Maryland response reset the eight point advantage, and Indiana never got closer than five. Indiana made an addition to its 2023 class on national signing day. He was recruited to be either a tight end or front seven defender in college, and had a big season doing both in 2022. COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Indiana lost to Maryland on Tuesday evening by a final score of 66-55 at the Xfinity Center. The Hoosiers trailed 37-29 at halftime and were led in the game by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 18 points and a building record 20 rebounds.  Race Thompson added 11 points.  Below are the three keys to the game, highlights and final stats. Indiana will be without main rotation player Jordan Geronimo for a second straight game at Maryland on Tuesday evening. Geronimo was not in uniform during pre-game warmups.  He was wearing a walking boot on his left foot. Indiana confirmed Geronimo will not play again due to “an injury to his left leg.” Geronimo is averaging a career high 5.6 points to go with 3.2 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per contest. Class of 2024 5-star guard Dylan Harper named his final five schools on Tuesday afternoon. Harper posted a graphic on his Twitter page with the logos of Auburn, Duke, Rutgers, Kansas and Indiana. The 6-foot-5 Harper took an official visit to IU in November.  He has also visited Duke and Rutgers. No one has spent more time over the last couple days analyzing the game of Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis than Maryland head coach Kevin Willard. Just days before the traditional signing day, IU has added to its 2023 recruiting class. Duluth, Ga. based tight end Anthony Miller, Jr. announced on Monday he has committed to Indiana after spending the weekend in Bloomington on an official visit. The 6-foot-5 and 240-pound Miller is a 3-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, and he’s the No. 777 overall and the No. 39 ranked tight end in the country according to that same outlet. A five game winning streak has propelled the IU men back into the AP top-25 this week. The Hoosiers are ranked No. 21 in this week’s AP top-25 after falling out of the poll for three straight weeks.  They didn’t even receive a vote two weeks ago. Leading the way from the Big Ten is Purdue in the top spot.  The Hoosiers will host No. 1 Purdue on Saturday.  They are the only teams from the Big Ten ranked at this time.  Illinois, Rutgers and Northwestern are receiving votes. The scout on Jalen Hood-Schifino coming into his freshman season? Great defender, great scorer on the move, able to lead a team, and tough-as-nails. But could he make the three ball on a consistent basis?  That was an open question. On Saturday evening against Ohio State, Hood-Schifino scored on a mid-range jump shot on Indiana’s first possession, and that was all it took to get him in rhythm. The start of the second half against Ohio State was delayed on Saturday evening when an object fell from the center court video board and fell to the Branch McCracken Court. The object fell near Ohio State freshman guard Brice Sensabaugh as the teams came onto the court. IU has inspected the video board and provided the following explanation: “The piece that fell from the center hung scoreboard at SSAH on Saturday night was an unused unistrut bracket.
