It was the great escape from frigid Minnesota.  Indiana won its fourth game in a row on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis, but you won’t find this one hanging in the Louvre any time soon. MINNEAPOLIS — Indiana defeated Minnesota at Williams Arena on Wednesday evening by a final score of 61-57.  The win is IU’s fourth straight in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers (14-6, 5-4) were led by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 25 points and 21 rebounds.  Miller Kopp added 11 points, and Malik Reneau had 10. Trayce Jackson-Davis now has the most recorded blocked shots in IU basketball history. The 6-foot-9 senior blocked a drive to the basket by Minnesota’s Jamison Battle with 1:24 left in the first half on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis to give him the all-time lead. The block was Jackson-Davis’ 228th of his career.  He came into the game tied for the lead and passed Jeff Newton, whose 227 blocks stood atop the IU record books since 2003. IU basketball head coach Mike Woodson will not coach Indiana on Wednesday evening as he recovers from COVID, the school announced in a release. Associate head coach Yasir Rosemond, who had the primary scout for tonight’s game, will handle all post-game media obligations. An IU representative told The Daily Hoosier there is no acting head coach tonight, and the staff will be sharing the decision making responsibilities. The losses keep mounting for Minnesota. Indiana has played a significant stretch of the season without starters Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson, but it could be worse. The Golden Gophers will be down to just seven scholarship players when they face the Hoosiers on Wednesday evening (9 p.m. Eastern, BTN). Indiana made some momentum changing 3-pointers against Michigan State on Sunday.  And their ability to make those shots had the Spartans unsure of just what to do with Trayce Jackson-Davis, who scored 18 points in the second half. MSU head coach Tom Izzo called it a “pick your poison” scenario after Indiana’s 82-69 win. After falling completely out of the votes last week, the IU men nearly climbed all the way back into the AP Top-25 after finishing off their third straight double-digit win over a Big Ten opponent. Indiana is receiving the second most votes of teams outside the top-25, placing them effectively at No. 27 in the poll. As strange as it may seem, that also gives IU the second-highest vote total in the Big Ten, behind Purdue, who returned to the No. 1 spot. After stuffing the stat sheet last week in IU wins over Illinois and Michigan State, Trayce Jackson-Davis has received a wave of national player of the week honors on Monday.  Naismith, ESPN and the NCAA all named the senior forward the best player in the country last week. Jackson-Davis was also named the Big Ten player of the Week on Monday.  He received the weekly league honor for the fourth time, and he’s the first IU player to win it since Jackson-Davis got it on Nov. 15, 2021.
