A.J. Thomas was an IU commit for all of three months. The Louisiana-based edge rusher announced on Monday evening he has decided to stay home.  He flipped his commitment from Indiana to Tulane. It’s the second time Thomas changed his mind.  He originally committed to Louisiana Tech in April and then switched to Indiana in September. According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Thomas is a 3-star prospect, the No. 928 overall player in the class, and the No. 87 edge rusher. Indiana head coach Mike Woodson gave a brief update on starting point guard Xavier Johnson Monday evening. Johnson suffered a foot injury against Kansas on Saturday and was later seen in a walking boot on his right foot with crutches on the IU bench. “Right now we’re still evaluating him, he’s kind of day-to-day,” Woodson said on his Monday evening radio show.  “He won’t play tomorrow (Tuesday vs. Elon), and we’ll probably know more Wednesday to see exactly where we are with him.” Johnson appeared to suffer the injury during in awkward fall in the first half at Allen Fieldhouse…

While the Hoosiers hope that is the story of their season after dropping three of four in December, it is the current lay of the land in the updated AP top-25 released on Monday afternoon. Indianapolis’ northeast side Division One basketball factory has placed another prospect on the IU radar. Class of 2025 guard Azavier Robinson will take an unofficial visit to IU on Tuesday when the Hoosiers take on Elon according to a national report by Rivals.  Robinson was a teammate last year of IU freshman guard C.J. Gunn at Lawrence North H.S., and he is now emerging as a young leader of that program. Another quarterback has emerged as a potential candidate to step into IU’s wide-open 2023 starting job. According to a report by 247Sports national reporter Chris Hummer, former Arizona State and Florida quarterback Emory Jones took a visit to Bloomington last week.  Jones also took a visit to Cincinnati over the weekend based on one his social media posts. A long layoff appeared to serve Indiana well. Playing for the first time since a Dec. 8 road win over Penn State, the No. 3/4 IU women made life miserable for Morehead State on Sunday afternoon in Bloomington. The Hoosiers (11-0) took the first quarter 28-4 including a 22-1 run to close the opening stanza — and never let their foot off the gas. Indiana lost for the third time in four games after an 84-62 dismantling at the hands of Kansas at the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan. LAWRENCE, Kan. — Indiana lost to Kansas on Saturday by a final score of 84-62 at the Allen Fieldhouse. The Hoosiers were led in the game by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 13 points.  Race Thompson and Jalen Hood-Schifino had 11 apiece.  Kansas led 44-29 at halftime.
