It won’t be easy to pull the top player in Michigan to an out-of-state Big Ten school, but Trey McKenney is enjoying a national recruitment, and Indiana is one of the programs making a hard push. They are going to give it a shot with class of 2023 Mackenzie Mgbako, a former Duke commit.  He’ll be taking a visit to Indiana according to a report by Adam Zagoria. Miami (Florida) transfer forward Anthony Walker is taking an official visit to Indiana beginning Thursday, the Daily Hoosier can confirm multiple reports. The 6-foot-9 and 215 pound Walker played four years at Miami and has played in 125 games during that span.  He has one year of eligibility remaining. A Baltimore product, Walker is coming off a senior season that saw him play 10.2 minutes per game while averaging 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest.  He played 13 minutes for Miami against Indiana in March and scored four points and added two rebounds. Just over three months ago Noah Bolticoff was playing in the national championship game.  Now he’s headed to Bloomington. The 6-foot-5 and 306 pound offensive lineman from Texas Christian announced his transfer to IU on Wednesday evening. “Committed. Let’s get to work. Go Hoosiers,” Bolticoff said in his social media post. Bolticoff appeared in seven games over the last two seasons including six during the 2022 campaign that saw the Horned Frogs play in the College Football Playoff.  He cracked the two-deep and saw limited reps as a reserve guard. A.J. Moye is headed back to the state of Indiana. Valparaiso University announced on Wednesday afternoon Moye has been named an assistant coach. Moye, who helped lead the Hoosiers to the 2002 national title game before beginning a professional playing career, has trained professional and collegiate players since 2011 as part of Rising Talent Development (Mamba Sports Academy + Sports Academy), serving as the Master Basketball Trainer for Kobe Bryant’s academy. Moye and Valpo head coach Roger Powell were adversaries during their collegiate days as Big Ten rivals when Powell starred for Illinois.   They later finished out their playing careers…

IU point guard Xavier Johnson can play a sixth season of college basketball. Johnson announced a couple months ago he was seeking a medical hardship waiver to obtain an additional season of eligibility after a suffering season-ending broken foot at Kansas in December. Former IU running back Sampson James is making a return to Bloomington. James made an Instagram post on Sunday evening with a photo of him wearing an IU uniform and helmet.  He simply said “committed” in the post. The 22-year-old James has been admitted to IU and will be a walk-on with the football program.  Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star appeared to be the first to report the specifics of James’ return. Chicago based sophomore Aleks Alston announced an offer from the Hoosiers on his social media accounts after a conversation with the coaching staff. The 6-foot-9 Alston is best known as a perimeter shooter, an attribute IU has been placing a heavy emphasis on during the first live recruiting period. A lefty, Alston attends Kenwood Academy H.S. in Chicago, Ill.
