CHICAGO — Indiana defeated Maryland by a final score of 70-60 in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament at the United Center. Maryland led 34-32 at halftime.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 24 points and a team high 7 assists.  Malik Reneau had a team high 11 rebounds.  Jalen Hood-Schifino added 19 points. (Lincoln City, Ind.), Sisley averaged 26.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per game.  He shot 65 percent from the field overall, including 41 percent (31 of 76) from 3-point range. Indiana was in a world of trouble on Sunday. Just as afternoon was turning into evening, the Hoosiers’ hopes of a Big Ten Tournament double-bye were fading away like the sun falling over the horizon.  Plummeting, it seemed. The transfer portal is going to be a key recruiting tool for Indiana in the coming weeks as they look to replenish their roster. While the portal opens for everyone on March 13, graduate transfers are already entering their names, and that means the IU basketball staff is busy recruiting college prospects during this postseason run. IU football opened spring practice on Saturday and had a session open to the media on Tuesday. Going into his seventh season as the head coach, Tom Allen has given spring updates twice over the last week. Watch below a season long highlight reel of Indiana starting guard Jalen Hood-Schifino. The 6-foot-6 Hood-Schifino was named the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Year on Tuesday. The Pittsburgh, Pa. product has appeared in 28 games this season for the Hoosiers.  In 32.6 minutes per contest, he’s averaging 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.9 turnovers and .9 steals per contest. Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis was voted first team All-Big Ten by both the coaches and the media.  The IU senior was a unanimous selection to the first team. Freshman point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino was named the league’s Freshman of the Year.  He also earned second and third All-Big Ten honors from the media and coaches, respectively. Jackson-Davis was also named to the Big Ten’s all-defensive team, and Miller Kopp was named Indiana’s sportsmanship award honoree.
