As long as Indiana has an open scholarship and a perceived need for additional shot-makers, potential targets in the transfer portal will continue to generate buzz among IU fans. Could the Hoosiers land someone like Caleb Love, Cam Spencer, or the latest scorer du jour who’s gone portaling? It’s reasonable for the Indiana staff to keep surveying the landscape of possible additions for the right fit. But it’s also not as simple as grabbing what you need off the shelf at the grocery store. For every addition you make, there is a potential impact on the playing time of others,…
Nearly three years to the day, there is finally some measure of justice. Three people have been convicted by a jury in connection with the 2020 fatal shooting of former IU football player Chris Beaty. Beaty was shot and killed on May 30, 2020 as he walked through an alley near his apartment building during a wave of violence and riots in Indianapolis. He died while rushing to the aid of two women who were being robbed, and also sent text messages checking on his neighbors moments before the incident. He was only 38 years old. Marcus Anderson, Alijah Jones…
There will be no easing in to the 2023 season. Like Tom Allen’s first full season as head coach in Bloomington, the Hoosiers will open the 2023 campaign by hosting national power Ohio State. And it should come as no surprise — oddsmakers are expecting a rough start for IU. The Buckeyes have opened as 28-point favorites in the Sept. 2 contest, according to DraftKings. While the 28 points is a massive number, it doesn’t seem all that bad based on the recent history in the series. Ohio State has won the last two meetings with IU by an average…
Indiana was cruising on Thursday afternoon through the first six innings behind a solid effort from starting pitcher Luke Sinnard. But once the IU ace left, the wheels came off at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb. Trailing 4-1 going into the seventh inning, No. 3 seed Iowa posted four runs in the top half to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The Hawkeyes put up four more in the top of the ninth to take a bottom of the ninth IU rally out of the equation. Iowa pulled away and won it 9-4. No. 2 Indiana will play Michigan…

Hood-Schifino was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year after averaging 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 32 games with Indiana. His 117 total assists ranked fourth-most in a single season by a freshman in program history. The Pittsburgh native was named Second Team All-Big Ten. Here is what two Big Ten coaches told Shaw…
We are 100 days from the start of the 2023 IU football season, so let’s kick that milestone off with some coverage of the outlook for the seventh year of the Tom Allen era. Yes, wow, seven years already. On Thursday, ESPN’s Bill Connelly published updates to his SP+ model, our favorite data driven tool for college football rankings and forecasts. SP+ factors each team’s returning production, recent recruiting success, and recent on field performance to produce rankings for each of the now 133 FBS programs. Overall IU dropped from 64th to 71st nationally in Connelly’s SP+ from the initial…
Fans will enjoy watching the guys in suits come out of the tunnel in November almost as much as the current players. One-by-one the program greats will emerge. There’s Jordan Hulls, and there’s Randy Wittman. Look, there’s Calbert Cheaney, and here comes Mike Woodson.
