As a young boy growing up in Bloomington, IU guard Anthony Leal remembers days like today vividly. When IU basketball was playing in the postseason, everything else kind of stopped. That included the classrooms at the local elementary schools, when teachers would put Indiana’s Big Ten and NCAA Tournament games on the television during the day. Basketball is on the curriculum in Indiana. Leal’s childhood included IU’s outright Big Ten titles in 2013 and 2016. So like many in the IU fanbase, he grew accustomed to the success. “Growing up, it was a given that they were going to be…

Rob Senderoff was asked publicly on Thursday about his time at Indiana that ended with his resignation related to NCAA recruiting violations 16 years ago. But the former assistant coach at IU under Kelvin Sampson didn’t have much to say about his brief 17 month stay in Bloomington. Senderoff was hired by Sampson in May of 2006. After rules violations related to impermissible phone calls involving him and Sampson surfaced, he reached a settlement with IU a couple weeks later and resigned in October of 2007. Now the head coach of Kent State, Indiana’s opponent on Friday evening, Senderoff was…
Scoring production from the wing is a priority for Indiana going forward, and Towson transfer Nick Timberlake seems to fit the bill. According to Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers, IU is one of many schools in pursuit of the East Coast based sharpshooter. This season for the Tigers, Timberlake averaged 17.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field overall and 41.6 percent from three (on 221 attempts). He also shot 84.5 percent from the free throw line. Timberlake’s numbers improved against higher end competition. According to KenPom, he made 46.6 percent from three against…
Indiana didn’t have an answer for Kent State guard Trevor Huffman as he led the Golden Flashes with 24 points in a 2001 NCAA Tournament first round upset over the Hoosiers. When Huffman hit a three-pointer to open the game for Kent State in the 2002 rematch, it looked like the Michigan native might just torture IU once again. But it would be the last lead of the day for Kent State. At a sold out Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., senior guard Dane Fife made sure the Hoosiers had a response with the Final Four on the line. And…
