There’s no rule that says Indiana has to declare during the season Jakai Newton is taking a redshirt freshman year. That part can wait. They are following Curt Cignetti to Bloomington. Make that three James Madison flips to Indiana on Monday. Class of 2024 Edge Daniel Ndukwe announced on Instagram Monday afternoon he’s committed to IU.  The announcement comes following a weekend visit to Indiana. The 6-foot-3 and 225 pound Ndukwe is a 3-star and the the No. 113 edge rusher nationally according to the 247Sports Composite. Ndukwe recorded 35 tackles including 6.5 for a loss as a senior.  He added a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery.  He played both ways and caught 10 passes for 277 yards and scored four touchdowns…

It’s been a whirlwind few days for class of 2024 signal caller Alberto Mendoza. After repeating as a state champion quarterback on Friday evening, he flew up to Indiana Saturday for an official visit. On Monday, Mendoza announced he has committed to play for IU. The 6-foot-2 Mendoza was a former James Madison commit before Curt Cignetti left his head coaching post there to take the reins at Indiana.  He announced his decommitment from JMU shortly after Cignetti was hired at IU, opening speculation of an eventual flip to the Hoosiers. It probably wasn’t fair to ask Sydney Parrish about her plans for the 2024-25 basketball season. But the Indiana forward was a good sport during the postgame media session at Rutgers on Saturday evening. And Parrish gave a response Indiana fans will like, even if she had to run it by her coach first. “I’m going to play my fifth year (at IU), if it’s okay with coach Moren,” Parrish said. Snap back to reality, ope, there goes gravity. With a chance to earn a statement nonconference win, Indiana fell flat on their face. It started out very promising, with IU raining threes and jumping out to a 22-10 lead.  But a 42-12 finish to the first half by Auburn was more than enough to put the game out of reach.  The Hoosiers never got closer than 11 in the second half. Mike Woodson said on Saturday he doesn’t change his rotation, but there have been exceptions. When Trey Galloway picked up his second foul with 8:54 left in the first half against Auburn, he was subbed out and never came back in the game until the second half.  That was a significant change to the rotation.  Without that second foul, Galloway almost certainly would have seen much more first half action. ATLANTA — Indiana lost to Auburn at State Farm Arena on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 104-76. Auburn led at halftime 52-34.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Malik Reneau with 15 points. Pregame warmups are going to be must watch when Indiana prepares to face Auburn in Atlanta. The Hoosiers listed five players as questionable on their Big Ten mandated availability report for the game, including three starters and their two leading scorers. Both Kel’el Ware and Malik Reneau were listed as questionable by IU, along with Xavier Johnson, C.J. Gunn and Anthony Walker.
